Yes. It's one of the reasons I'm so incredibly worried about "faking". I would never intentionally "fake" symptoms and most things are probably just heightened awareness but it's a great source of worry for me. I went through this around the time I was diagnosed. My mother was telling me "You've al... |

The Fly (the 80's vers. with Jeff Goldblum) is one of my all-time favorite horror movies. It doesn't drag on it's silly "normal life" bits like lots of horror films do, and unlike many older horror films, it's aged well. The special effects are extremely well utilized, imo. I don't think modern sfx... |

I seem to just fumble around and say only about a tenth of what I mean. It's actually super frustrating. Especially when I get reactions like "my roommate/cousin/friend is shy and doesn't like crowded places. do you think they have AS?" Or, what I count as my personal best reaction ever: "I have aut... |

I went through this with my mum (because she can remember when I was a small child) but the answer came up with:- No PDD 36 This is actually rather accurate because I didn't seem to have AS when I was under 4 years old, I was quite typical and there was no behavioural differences compared to other ... |

Three quick points: One, I second what Bunnynose said about stress, worry, and anxiety. These are probably the root of your school troubles, especially if you do end up being an aspie. I've been having problems with my grades lately too thanks to this. It seems so obvious on paper. "Of course when y... |

My brother is ADHD, my sister is ADD, and I have AS. Each individual's case (of course) is unique, but here is some information about our differences that you might find useful: My brother and I have both been frequently accused of laziness/absent-mindedness/etc. by our teachers. We've both almost f... |

Saying Sheldon's a good representation of an aspie is like saying that Penny's a good representation of blonds. Or women. Can aspies be like Sheldon? Yes. Can women/blondes be like Penny? Yes. Are all aspies like Sheldon? No. Are all women/blondes like Penny? No. Ultimately, they're both sitcom char... |

Have you looked at any asexual website resources? There's some with personal stories out there that might help you better understand yourself. Asexualism comes in varying shades, from people who literally have no sex drive what so ever to people who only form sexual attractions after they're romanti... |

Well, there's the rub right there: feeling like you have to live up to society's standard. While humans are innately social beings, not all humans are that way. There's really nothing wrong with feeling like you do and not having friends if you are fine about that. Some of us just prefer to have le... |

Whats the name of that temple grandin book? That could be usefull. But... It is because i want to know what autistic withdrawal is about. What is the nature of it, how it affects the behaviour and what happens in the mind. Is it just simply a lack of joy being with people (that would mean it just i... |

The tone argument is not strictly "Stop being so angry." It's more, everything you say is made out to be angry. You can be more polite than Miss Manners and people will still twist your words and accuse you of excessive anger - and this has happened to me. Oh, huh. Haven't heard that. I've been rel... |

Oh! I get it! Like if someone wanted me to call them the n word! It's similar, but even that doesn't entirely dehumanise someone as a person. It's just a very insulting way to describe someone. Calling someone "It" implies that they are not even a person to begin with. Could be the same, depending ... |

Asperger's Syndrome books really don't talk about it. Most of the ones that mention it seem to say "If the kid doesn't constantly feel lonely, great! Let's focus on those who want to be social and suck at it!" But most of the general autism books I've read have at least mentioned it. Temple Grandin,... |

I guess I can see why they would think it's insulting, but if I tell them "it" doesn't insult me, why do they still think it's insulting? Doesn't that cancel it out? NTs are confusing. Let's change the situation to give you a better perspective. Say an immigrant who recently moved to the ... |

I don't believe that autistics have an inflated sense of entitlement. Can you explain why you think this? How is the sense of entitlement causing the problems of ASD? There are people out there on the internet who say we do. I do not remember where they're at. My ultimate question is what if at lea... |

What does pique my interest is what would cause someone to come to that conclusion. What does it infer about the person making that statement? Is that claim simply done out of ignorance of the other, or is there actually more to it? I believe that the phrase has it's roots in the idea that homosexu... |
