How to get sex and loving female companionship. This worked for me. WARNING: do your research and be honest to the other person. Join a church. "But I'm an atheist!" you say? Not a problem. Most people think "church" means "evangelical". Those are just the noisy extremi... |

Do you think she spends time thinking "I need to make my husband happy", or asking people online how to make you more happy? . ... The emphasis is usually on the ND making changes but not the NT. I think this is considered acceptable because everyone assumes the autistic person will lead ... |

Quantum duck wrote: How long have you been married? Thanks for the reply. Ten years. Mostly it's been great. But lately, for age related reasons, the ratio of faking versus relaxing has gone up. |

What are you faking? Being sociable. I spent my life finding solutions to the world's problems. I began by digging deep into economics. That led to studying the nature of existence. I enjoy exploring ideas. But not in real time. A single idea might take a month or a year to mull over. I come to con... |

I am married and I mask heavily. Most days I am good at it, but maybe once a year it becomes too much for me. I let my real feelings come out. Result: deep depression on both sides. After a few days I get past it. I manage to mask again. Then we are fine for the nexy year or so. I think our marriage... |

Then she heads home doing nothing but responding to the check-in text, then posts on social media about random s**t all week while not saying a word to me, then promptly saw some other guy I assume since she informs me this morning she's chosen someone else to be her "bf here" That sucks.... |

I feel for you. I wish I had a magic answer, but as you know this world is not fair. The good news though is that you come across as articulate and not overly sorry for yourself - you simply state the facts objectively and fairly. Such self knowledge is admirable, and is a very good sign for the fut... |

"this is not what I signed up for". This sounds very familiar. WARNING: what follows is only my experience. Other people have different experiences!! ! I was diagnosed around 40. At around the same time I left my church. It was the kind of church that is almost a cult - everything in your... |

I agree that just being there for him is by far the best solution. However, I live hundreds of miles away, and like many people on the spectrum he is not comfortable on the phone. And he is not someone who opens up easily. I have known him all his life (naturally) and last week was the first time we... |

Thanks. I feel terrible even thinking of discussing this with him. But since there are no children, and the wife is so unhappy as well, it just seems so obvious. Of course, the down side is that I live a long way from him and any conversation will take at least an hour before it's comfortable to disc... |

The only thing that works for me is to forget about doing stuff that makes me anxious (i.e. everything). I only ever do one thing, almost never go outside, and it always works (or always has): I read Dale Carnegie's book "how to win friends and influence people". it's cheap from any book s... |

I love my brother and my heart aches for him, but I don't know what to do. As you can tell from my user name, I used to be very unhappy. (I can't change my user name unfortunately). My life now is a thousand times better. I got divorced, and now have somebody who loves me. My brother is in the same ... |

Thanks for the reply. Comments like yours are why I always come back to this board and feel so at home. Most of what you said goes against conventional wisdom, yet that is exactly my experience. After two universities, running my own business and numerous jobs, I calculated that I would have been be... |

Thanks. Plus, university wise, I am 47 and have already graduated from two universities, so it's not like I'm a teenager afraid of work! My fiancee is actually really good. She says she will support me whatever I do, but I don't want her to secretly think I am doing the wrong thing. With autism I ju... |

Sadly I have to eat. The job pays the bills, it is safe and I feel secure in it. I wish there was a better option but there isn't. |
