Screw Autism Speaks. Not a single dollar goes to Autistic's, it goes to programs, "cure's", and "Parents", but never anyone with Autism. They have actively shut down sites of Autistic's using their logo trying to raise money for Autism, or Noise Canceling headphones. There logo i...

Hello, First of all, I must apologise for the content of this post. It reflects my son's apparent perspective and I realise that it may be offensive. However, I really need some advice about how to manage the situation. Not offended. We are all pretty use to it by now. Autistic is used the same way...

Learning psychology is a brilliant idea for its own sake or to help yourself. If you're doing it to help others on the spectrum, however, then you're probably wasting your time. You'll never really get much opportunity to help people on an informal basis, and if you do, they probably won't listen t...

Lately, especially with politics, been getting pissed, and being to aggressive. Time to get the old outlet again, before i mess up what i got. ...

Anyone know of a job that one can work from home on a computer that doesn't require much or any experience, that isn't a scam, and can be done for a short time just to make some money? If those were readily available, everyone would do it. Take a look at the unity asset store. It's by no means a pa...

Pain is relative. Sometimes that cheerleader who just got dumped, and lost their core group of friends is really in pain. You can choose to hate them for it, or judge them, thinking they got it easy.... but In my experience, judging and hate never helped me all that much. Though more often then not,...

When I was 17 my maths teacher gave me some advice for starting a small business. He said - "Don't start a small business because the majority of them fail". So you can imagine my horror when my girlfriend signed a three year lease on a shop for $22,000 per year. What if she doesn't get a...

I am an adult person with diagnosed an Asperger's syndrome. I consider learning psychology or psychiatry because I'm going to help autistic people with their problems. Most people tell me that this is a bad idea but don't tell me why. Can you tell me whether is it a good idea to learn psychology or...

A friend boils down to "someone who will be there when you call them at 1am and s**t hit the fan". Reguardless of the personality, those are friends. Other then that friends come in all shapes and sizes. If they won't get up or if you wouldn't feel like they would have your back in a dark alley if s...

I found autism forces you to learn in one or two ways. The first way is putting your head down, and learning as you go. The definition of the hard way. I did the exact same thing as a kid. I would always try to hang out with the older kids, and typically i would be harrassed, made fun of and hurt. T...

The arguement of animal testing not withstanding..... I've been researching autism for a while now. One of the most interesting things to me as an autistic, is the system of socialisation and the belief that "everyone should be just like me" reguardless if it comes from a black rap artist from the b...

we arn't exactly social devious creatures like most people climbing the corperate ladder. My suggestion is that you get the request in writing. Then i would go to the boss or higher up and just say "hey, i just wanted to double check with you, this person wanted me to fill out this form, i'm pretty ...

If you where going to hire a french teacher, wouldn't you want someone who was french? If hiring someone who work with autistic kids wouldn't you want them to be autistic? As long as you can handle the work, it seems by far a benifit. If i had an interview i would explain that autistic people think ...

I really need help dealing with my agoraphobia. I wanted to continue to contribute to society after I lost my job and so I began volunteering as a leader of a workshop for self management for people with chronic illnesses. I think leading the workshops are causing panic attacks. At what point do yo...

The problem is not just ignorance, its workload. It's far easier to punish a kid then to try to understand why they tried to do whatever act that got them into trouble in the first place. This goes for parents, but it also applys to educators as well. My school always wanted to treat me as a trouble...
