Does every aspie have to stim? If asperger's is a spectrum & everyone is supposedly different, then surely it's possible for aspies not to flap their hands, as if they're pretending to be Gulliver, from the children's programme, Fingerbobs? I have never tapped my face, hopped on one leg, spun ro...

I just feel a fraud. My Mum is physically disabled & has mental health problems. My brother has mental health problems, (although his were self-induced, as he smoked 'legal; highs. Ergo, I know about disability. I look at the various posts, on here and think to myself, "I'm not as autistic ...

@B19: I just want to know why it is that I don't seem to possess nearly of the 'known' quirks. Why it is that I can score quite highly in the Cam Face-Voice Battery Test, when a low score is indicative of Asperger's. People say that female Aspies 'learn' hpw to recognise emotions, but I've never lea...

@jrjones9933: I only had one 2 hour session - some of which the pyschologist interviewed my parents, then a follow up with a psychologist training to become an assessor. I wasn't given any tests, such as the EQ Test, or the SQ Test. I wasn't given the Aspie Quiz either, which apparently, is better t...

I've read posts on this foroum, read articles on the internet. Stimming is considered to be repititive behaviour. I used to make up pop songs, as a girl and used to sing in my bedroom & I made the noises for the instruments. I've never flapped my hands/jumped up and down/wiggled my feet/whatever...

@Voxish: really? I wouldn't dare call anyone an attention seeker, if they posted something that made them consider their diagnosis. .. maybe you can tell me why it is, that I am supposedly an aspie, and yet I have stimmed in my whole life, (flapping my hands, twirling, etc)? The psychologist, who as...

I don't stim and never have. If talking to yourself can be counted as stimming, then I stim. Otherwise, I don't. I don't flap my hands, I don't twirl around & I don't tap my fingers.
Based on the fact I don't stim, how can I call myself autistic? |

@bumbleme: I can say I don't fit any type of Aspie, (please see previous posts, as I'll have to re-hash and you might end up bored). If the psychologist, who assessed me had asked if I have any particular skills/special interests, (which I subsume myself in for months/years), she might have come to ...

I did the Cam Face-Voice Battery Test and I scored: Faces: 88.0% Voices: 94.0% - average 91%. in 4.5 seconds. The average score for females with ASD is 68.9% in 11.1 seconds. Faces: 70.0% Voices: 67.8%. I know when someone looks appalled, condescending, appealing, grave, etc. Ergo, if Aspies can't r...

Did you take the Mind's Eye test? I did. Passed it, with flying colours. I took the CAM Face-Voice Battery Test and passed both parts with flying colours.
It helps to have a mum, who, when me and brother were children, flew off the handle and a dad, who was sarcastic. |

@Magz: I've never learned to read people's emotions. I just do. By the way, I scored really poorly on the Systemising Quotient Test, as some questions don't apply to me at all.

@Magz: I over exaggerated. I knew that aspies can be rude/offend people with things they say. I've only offended people a couple of times, (when I was at primary school, on one occasion I was talking to a teacher, after school had ended and I said something and she told me off for being sarcastic). ...

But I lied, during my assessment. Two psychologists have said that I'm on the spectrum. I can tick off most of the traits associated with female aspies, but the fact I told a lie, is bugging me.
