It is possible for Aspies if they have the will to do it, many don't want to because they think it's pointless. I never had that desire. I think the best way to live is in the real world and not in a made up one.

Dramatic play meant nothing to me. People would make me try to pretend to be someone else but I didn't have the desire to do it. It's just too stressful to think of something that is not real and has nothing to do with me. It makes me anxious

I have an abnormally high heart rate because of anxiety and sometimes I have dizzy spells. Yesterday my psychiatrist put me on Klonopin to take as needed for panic attacks. But fortunately, I haven't needed it yet.

Sometimes this happens to me when I am really anxious or irritable. I talk about going to Heaven and escaping the worries of reality. This has been going on a lot lately and my mother says I am "looping" which means I am repeating myself over and over. I can't seem to control it in stressful situati...

Some people with Asperger's syndrome are misdiagnosed with oppositional defiant disorder because they are so stubborn. When I was a kid people would say I was "defiant" or "hard-headed". When I was 18 months old my physical therapist said I was the most stubborn kid she's ever seen. Even though I am...

Definitely NOT. Barney does things that Asperger people refuse to do, he encourages kids to use their imaginations and make friends. Many Asperger people think that is pointless and not necessary for survival. Nobody should have to adhere to his strict regime if they are autistic. He has no right to...

Cerebral palsy is not a terminal illness and it is not progressive like Muscular Dystrophy or Alzheimer's Disease or ALS. People with CP may be medically fragile but not enough to require a DNR or being placed under hospice care.

Research has shown that the part of the brain that is used for imagination is damaged or doesn't function properly. Many autistic people are not able to process abstract or symbolic thinking. It's not their fault that they can't pretend. It's just the way their brains are wired. Barney just doesn't ...

I used to like Barney but I never did what he told me to do. I don't think he understands that autistic people cannot use their imaginations or make friends. he just thinks they are defiant and obnoxious. He made an appearance at my soccer game when I was little and I completely ignored him, That's ...

Well, it's not harmful for your daughter to want to be a cat. People with Asperger's Syndrome have very catlike qualities. Maybe she was a kitten in her previous life. I think I was a cat too, and then I was turned into a human.

If your son is tired after walking a long distance, ask his pediatrician if he might need a wheelchair. I started using a special needs stroller at 8 years old due to fatigue, then I outgrew the stroller and now have a wheelchair. You can get one for him through a durable medical equipment company w...

Neurotypical people say that I have an imagination but I tell them that my imagination is dead and it turns into a power struggle. I know that autistic people have a lack of imagination, but NT people don't seem to understand or care about that. Why do they have to criticize us?

Because of my spastic diplegia, I didn't learn to walk until my 2nd birthday. I wear braces on my feet and sometimes use a wheelchair to get around large places. I started using a wheelchair in middle school because I couldn't get on and off the bus by myself. I rode a lift bus until I got out of hi...

I know that the medical definition of an obsession is any thought or action that threatens a person's ability to act normally due to anxiety. Most NT people think that we are full of anxiety and can't seem to relax. Sometimes that is true, but it's just the way our brains are wired. We have "special...

I don't think autism is a disorder that needs to be cured because it is not terminal. I would like if there was a cure for diseases such as Muscular Dystrophy, Alzheimer's Disease, Alcoholism, and Cancer. These diseases threaten a person's ability to thrive, but autism does not.
