| He also talks about designing and building a theme park with roller coasters and some pretty fantastic ideas for other rides. .... now he's also interested in lego. sounds like somebody needs some K'NEX Collect & Build Amusement Park and Thrill Rides Building Sets =) :) Funny you should mention... |

I think its true what you say Chronos, that he may not be showing a great deal of it outwardly. He does look deep in thought a lot of the time! He shows interest in electrica... |

| From what I've been reading; many kids on the spectrum have special interests... to the point that it may become obsessive?? My son does have a lot of ASD traits, but this is not one. He does love his lego and cars but is not obsessed about them and doesnt talk obsessively about one topic of interes... |

My 7yo does this as well. It seems to be habit driven at times, however he is now on asthma preventitive for the dry cough and it does seem to help and is not coughing as much... It may well be asthma that your child has

| Thanks, great article! I've always found my son to be extremely tired after school and I dread doing extra work when he gets home.... I end up doing a lot of it for him.... I think he's done enough work throughout the day. I'm at a loss to why kids have to have so much homework, I'm not a fan of it.... |

Can anyone enlighten me as to what is involved during the ASD assessment (ADOS) for the child? (7yrs old)
I know he will be seeing an OT, Child Psych and Speech therapist. But what exactly will they say/do during the assessment process?! !

Some great ideas you have! Thank you.
I can use his sensitivity to noise as part of it. This is really affecting him at the moment, and I've sympathised with him over it a lot latley. I can also mention about him tiring easily....

| Hi all My 7 year old son is soon having an assessement for ASD. How do I explain the assessment to him without him feeling like he's being "tested" or that he's done something wrong or is not good enough.... if that makes sense. I dont want to tell him that he is being tested for Autism etc at this ... |
