I think it is pretty widely accepted that a numerical IQ is simply unable to "rate" intelligence except for a fairly narrow range of cognitive "normality". For me the argument becomes spurious but nonetheless fascinating to watch. It reminds me of Shrek "do you think he's compensating for something"...

The discussion between Byrne and Daniel Levitin in Seed magazine is interesting in that Levitin has a strong interest in Williams Syndrome, which is almost opposite aspergers in symptoms, but has strong musicality. I know many musicians and other creative people with ASD or heightened autistic trait...

Points of collaboration. Investigating the creative processes within musical collaborations and the impact of Aspergers Syndrome. particularly how it relates to me (surprise!) and other control freaks in specific areas of the music industry (composition and music technology / recording and productio...

I have been a professional recording engineer and mastering engineer, I play many types of instruments, i dont read music. I have had this conversation many times with standard people, where I attempt to make them understand that I hear music differently. I hear the music as many elements, as a gre...

As a performer, sitting for hours by myself practicing is certainly no problem. What I find interesting is that I have trouble performing in small groups. When I have a real audience, my discomfort is nearly nil. I suspect this may have to do that I want to be "me" in the small group but with an au...

I gave up performing years ago. Couldn't gel with the ensemble. Didn't know why then. Do know now! I have occasionaly found (later) that I have "bulldozed" collaborators into creative outcomes they are not comfortable with. My own "confidence" in an idea over-rides my reception (perception) of displ...

OK folks serious question here. I am doing some preliminary fishing for a doctoral research thesis. I have no idea if the forum moderators will let this through but here goes .. I'm interested in the Aspie musicians out there (I'm one too) and would like to know what aspects of the syndrome YOU thin...

I'm a composer too, but work mostly outside classical sphere's. Viva la difference ... Most of my work has been either with dance and physical theatre, where it varies enourmously - or in popular production, where the money is. I love to explore sounds in minature, get stuck on tiny elements - lack ...

I'm a married Aspie (recently diagnosed, "residual") I started investigating after our son was diagnosed. My wife and I have been reading two books in particular "Aspergers in Love" by Maxine Aston, and Aspergers and Long Term Relationships by Ashley Stanford. Heartily recommend both. And suggest yo...

If you are a musician or performing artist who collaborates - ie works with others in the creation of art, I would like to hear from you. I am an Aspie (technically residual) and studying the effects of Aspie traits (including among NT folks) on collaborations in music and sonic art. This includes b...
