That was very helpful, thank you. My friend is a lot older than me, and her and her partner (the guy who cut my hair) both know I have autism. I don't believe she intentionally meant to upset me - she had had a couple glasses of wine and I think she was tired, but I think I still need to tell her ho...

The friend who cut my hair is a he (he eventually stopped). The friend who told me to "get over it" is a she (this is the friend I need to explain this to).

My friend was giving me a haircut, which I was completely fine with. But he kept going back to it to cut random bits off, and when he wouldn't stop I became agitated, and from there it just escalated to panic. Callista - This is exactly what I thought, I just don't know how to explain to her that th...

I don't tell people randomly. My friend sometimes does, when I'm introduced to new people (I never think to say it). In some ways it's ok, if the person knows what it is, then they know to respect my boundaries and not to touch me, but other people can say hurtful things or poke fun, or it just does...

A friend who I trust was touching me and I felt it was too much, after a while I just didn't want it, but I was told to get over it.

A week ago I was at my friends home, whom I trust, but even so, they had other friends over, and it became a little overwhelming for me. I told my friend there was too much touching going on, and she told me to "get over it". I'm fine with being touched if I trust the person, but it doesn't mean tha...

Something like this happened when I lived with my mother. I can't eat anything I don't like, and most of the food she bought made me ill, so I ate what I liked if I was hungry. She yelled at me for it, because the cereal would be gone in a week or so, she told me to stop eating so much. So I didn't ...

I agree with NUJV When I was upset, I would need to be left alone to calm myself down. If people kept asking what was wrong or touched me or followed me when I went to find a quiet place it would only make me worse and I'd get scared, and normally that would result in me hurting myself. He will prob...

I have emotions, just difficulty expressing them or recognising them in others. I know the basics, happy and sad, but I can't understand the others. My dad frequently becomes depressed because he hates living where we live. I feel out of place when he talks about it, because I don't understand why h...

I use music to block out distractions. I play the same song as loud as I can, over and over (normally according to mood) so it's all I can hear. In classes all I could hear was everyone else's conversations, and I couldn't concentrate. So I made sure my music was the only thing I could hear, and pla...

I get emotionally attached to certain objects if 'special' people have given them to me. For example, I have kept a seemingly ordinary pen which was given to me by a woman who worked at my college. She used to let me sit in her office on the floor if my classes became too much for me. She taught me ...

I think it's to do with behaviour and the way we dress. I've been told people think I'm about 12 years old because 1. I look at everything with 'childish wonder' as if it's all new to me. 2. I like things that are usually aimed at entertaining children. 3. I barely look at anyone, or speak to anyone...

Animalcrackers - Thank you very much for your reply, this has helped me a lot, especially the parts about the brain functions.

There were only 5 people I would speak to on a regular basis, only people I trusted. Nowadays it's more like 3. I hate conversation.
