I have an AS ds going on 17 yrs.

I want him to try to become more independent. Should I encourage him to take part in a local AS group? His psych thinks it might be a good idea. I do too, if I can get him to go. What do you think?

It sounds like your son could perhaps benefit from a move to a mainstream school. He is entitled to his education in the LRE available. I've seen ds, dd, dh, to always mean "dear" whatever also.
