I agree, it's only a punishment if we persist in comparing our experience to the prevailing/dominant one and concluding that things should somehow be better. My path through life has been richly rewarding in those areas where I have not had to conform to the letter of the expectations of others. I s... |

No, it's not a step toward adaptation. It's a confirmation that there is infinite diversity in temperament and none of us will fit comfortably into the biggest box. |

I have absolutely the same experience with large groups. My daughter has it even more intensely. Sort of like the crowd noise before a concert starts or like listening to a radio which is simultaneously tuned to a multitude of stations - the sources are not able to be pinpointed nor perceived yet th... |

HAHAHAHAHA - Not laughing at you, just that having been there, done that, I know what it feels like. Later I would replay in memory the memorable quotes from the corporate a**holes and suckbutts and they would all have helium voices. I never got the concept that inter-team competitiveness was someho... |

My memory is also not what it used to be. My long-term memory is similar to what hansgrohe describes but there came a point after which things just didn't get assimilated in the same way. Stress and distraction seem to be the cause. |

God didn't create society. When you are alone and left to your own interests and actions, when you are with the people you trust who may "get" you totally or to the degree that they allow you to be who you are, are you struggling? Society has made its rules to favor those who fit them best... |

This is my opinion, I think that girls who reject nice guys and date jerk-type guys more than deserve the heartache they will eventually feel, whether it be a bad breakup, being used, or whatever else. I'm not saying that every girl has to date one particular nice guy, but I'm saying that if a girl... |

If you are AS and he is AS and your friend is NT, chances are pretty good that what you've been told is not applicable. I agree, ask him up front. He will probably be surprised by the question, mostly because he would not have thought about asking you a similar question. But his response is likely t... |

I have seen a fair amount of judgmental attitude from drug users re: nonusers. Another factor is their paranoia about nonusers possibly narcing on them. I've been on both sides of this. But one factor I have never seen mentioned is that a significant other can never compete with The Buzz. There is n... |

Yes, I see music as colors and patterns. When improvising I sometimes approach it from a visual sense, "What color would look good here?", sort of abstract expressionist, instead of "what note or chord would sound good here?" I play in nonstandard tunings fairly often and due to that, I hear music i... |

Drums seem like a good choice. Theremin as well, due to the fascinating focus it would take. I also vote for sitar, which is used to play single note melodies (no chords) over a pervasive drone. Tempo and dynamics become variables. BTW, I have played lead guitar for 41 years. I hate performing live ... |

Hey all, New member, not formally diagnosed with Asperger's but I'm pretty sure. After taking Myers-Briggs (INTP) and Keirsey Temp Sorter (Rational Architect) early this year and investigating characteristics of respective results, I came upon AS. It was easy to see that both of these types are at t... |
