Need some perspective from the group. I do the majority of my shopping off hours when there are very few people around (usually, early morning). However, occasionally there will be a person standing in front of whatever item it is I need (sometimes, of all things, talking on the phone). If you've h...

Making things. Am really into chain maille jewelry right now, but still like beading and wire wrapped stuff. Also dabbling in painting. So I guess overall I would have to say "art".

For years my sister said she didn't understand why I don't have tons of friends as I am the "nice" sister. But I think that might have been the problem. People have a tendency to compare themselves to others, and they hate when they think they don't measure up to whatever expectations they have. And...

Over the last two and a half years, I have lived in a condo community which I normally do not have problems with. At the same time though, there is a guy who lives in a building next to mine. He has had a crush on me from day one. However, I have sensed a red flag about this guy from the start. For...

You sound kind of like my BF. It takes a lot of working togetehr to get past this. You HAVE to tell you that you have AS so that she can understand. (snip). I was full disclosure with my ex before we even moved in together. I had chronic medical issues which are degenerative, and also had depressio...

I turn 50 in a couple of weeks and while I got good grades I hated any social interactions that I had in grade school and high school. College was only slightly better but not much. For the most part I had no friends at all, even when I tried. Not even when I was in clubs. :?

How long does it usually take a person to start seeing things in you that are "different" (or they may think weird, off, whatever)? (snip). As a kid I always felt like I was on the wrong planet and used to joke about waiting for the mothership to retrieve me. :D I didn't find out about my aspie nat...

Hello, Is it sometimes necessary for Aspergers adults to consult with a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)? Can a LCSW assist with financial agendas other than Govt. payments and medical benefits? Any recommendations for specific LCSWs who've been helpful with Asperger adults? Thank-you I see a...

Unfortunately, I've found that people with character and personality disorders seem to latch on to us aspies. We are an easy target for them, because we are often desperate for friendships with due to or social deficits. At least that is how it is for me. I believe that I give off an aura that cert...

Has anyone else here with AS had a similar type of experience with this? All of my life. I have one friend whom I have known for 40 years, but for the most part we don't see each other very often. But we can get on the phone and chat like we didn't have a huge gap between chats. He is most definite...

At 25 you are just barely started. :D I was 21 before I had any kind of date at all, and about your age before I had a boyfriend. Most of my relationships lasted 3 months or less, and my longest one was almost a year, but part of that time it was long distance (he had to go to Florida for special Na...

I get overwhelmed when shopping. Part of it is the noise and part is the array of things on the shelves. If I am getting anything new or different, I need to read labels which can make shopping trips last forever. Luckily I have a service dog to help me when I tune out, which is my reaction to being...

Just wondering if anyone here has trouble driving a car. Whenever I drive a car I get HUGE anxiety and totally panic. Freeways are the worst. The only places I really feel comfortable driving are areas I know REALLY well like the town where I grew up. I currently live in a place where i don't need ...
