A lot of 'talking cure' quacks are sceptical of medication and newer diagnostic categories. Some of those who believe in Psychodynamic (counselling, therapy approaches) think that children with ADHD are 'acting out' problems to do with the relationships they have with other members of their family....

My Aspie husband gets headaches quite often and a full blown migraine about 3-4 times a year. His migraines get so bad he can barely move and throws up a lot. I usually have to take him to the doctor to get a shot for the nausea.
He attributes them to his anxiety. |

I wonder if the meds would help you quit smoking because you'd no longer need to use cigarettes. I wonder if normalized brain chemistry is stronger than nicotine addiction. Let me know, okay? I hope the medication works for you. It's like a miracle when it works. It's absolutely amazing. Before meds...

I love my Aspie husband. I wrote about all things I like about him in the thread about how women don't find Asperger's attractive and I'm not going to stoop to redundency and rewrite it all here. I'll just say that he's my soulmate and a special gift to me. I have ADHD and have always felt so differ...

My Aspie husband smokes pot to self-medicate his anxiety. Does anyone else do this? I have no moral issue with marijuana use, I'm just worried because it's illegal. He doesn't act high and even said that he doesn't even really feel high, just not anxious. I've suggested that he go to a therapist and...

I take 30mg of Adderall XR (extended release) in the morning and 20 mg of regular Adderall in the afternoon. I the only side affect I have expereinced is loss of appetite, which can be a benefit for some people. Stimulant medications have been used medically for over 70 years and appear to be safe o...

Well, since I ADHD, it bothers me. Scientific studies of the human brain have shown that people with ADHD symptoms (not caused by brain injury or other health fators) have a smaller frontal cortex than people without ADHD symptoms. People with ADHD have lower levels of dopamine and norepinephrine (s...

I think that for most normal men, "sex" is only a few minutes of masturbation with an elaborate sex toy. Ha, ha!! This made my day! Very asute! But, there are times when my AS husband is guilty of this as well. I think both genders are guilty of this sometimes! Before you have sex, it can seem very...

Thanks for the info! The idea of my mouth being squishy and slimy makes perfect sense! When we first started dating he would kiss me a little and then say, "Your kisses are too wet." (which they are NOT!) I just figured he wasn't the kissing type (there are NT guys like that too), but now that we kn...

My Aspie husband does not like to kiss unless we're having sex. He has SI issues with his mouth. Does the sensory integration problem "turn-off" when he's horny? Does his raw sex instinct just take over and win out? Anyone else experience this?

I do not have AS, but my husband does. He turns 32 tomorrow and this has been a very recent discovery for both us. I'm trying to find out as much as I can so I can understand him. I love him so much and I want to accomodate his AS as much as possible when we're at home to relieve some of his anxiety...

My husband was talking about this last night. He said he can read people, although he may not know how to socialize with them. He can just tell how a person is, what they're like on the inside. He just understands at a very deep level why people are the way they are and what makes them tick. It's be...

Last night he initiated a conversation about it. He seems intrigued, yet scared about what it could mean for him. He told me he read the diagnostic list I printed out for him and that he identified with about 80% of it. Most of the diagnostic lists focus on a-typical social behaviors and my husband ...
