It's great to know other people that agree that AS should in no way stop the need for socialization :) Even if it's something little that you feel proud of or even if you have only one friend, feel free to post here. Remember, no pessimism allowed.

Autism is not part of my personality, it is just part of the way I think and socialize. I have many NT friends, I'm still doing my best to outgrow what I can but the autism will never really go away.

Everyone I've met with Asperger's with the exception of my 8th grade friend William who I don't even see anymore, have been total a**holes to put it bluntly. I prefer NT friends despite my AS.

The diet is frustrating to say the least. As for treating normality, even more impossible than AS. Their close minded ego can not be helped

We should be focusing on improving the symptoms, not completely removing it. I hear that the gluten free dairy free diet works well, also go buy some books for improving social skills. Most importantly, go out and socialize.

I don't stim, I've never had the temptation to not even when I'm nervous, however I do tend to sit in strange positions and my body language is completely off.

Andre, 19 year old guy in CA with asperger's, have extreme social anxiety but most my friends don't know I have asperger's. I love playing guitar and soccer and football. Never had any autistic friends in my life since autistic people seem so rare so I'd love to make some on here. :)

With all these threads all pessimistic and what not, I thought I'd make a thread about people who are happy off with their social lives despite AS. I know I am, come here and spread your success stories! :) I know there's lots of AS people who have been able to overcome social awkwardness or at leas...

Hello everyone, name's Andre, 19, self diagnosed with aspergers. Not too well understood by my neurotypical friends, but they're still good people. I wanted to meet people like myself so I've decided to join this wonderful community with arms wide open. :)
