Since I've been suffering from insomnia on and off for years, I often have a hunch if I'll have trouble falling asleep that night. If I think I will, I'll take a melatonin pill. Melatonin is a natural occuring neurotransmitter in the brain, so taking the pill has no side effects whatsoever. It just ...

I have a service dog. I was having a terrible period last winter where my depression and anxiety was so bad that I almost dropped out of school. Then I found an organisation that trained so-called "psychiatric service-dogs", so not only autism but PTSD, bipolar etc. I still live at home an...

I often feel very depressed in the evenings. In the day I'll be fine and life is decent, but then later my stress/anxiety tends to take over and my thoughts darken. I've had one almost suicide attempt in my life (4 years ago) but, ironically, that was what ended up saving my life. I became an outpat...

I'm 17, aspie and going to my first New Year's part ever tomorrow. And I'm frightened to death. New Year is not a huge deal for me so I've always just celebrated it at home with my closest family. Though this year one of my closest friend asked me to come to her New Year's party ("New Year's wi...

I live in Copenhagen, Denmark. It's a very pretty capitol with a lot of diversity and access to everything. Unfortunately it's lacking in nature and the weather can be so awful at times.

I'm not religious and do not believe in any sort of God. Nevertheless I'm really fascinated by Buddhism and would consider that my personal philosophy (minus the reincarnation, nirvana, life wheel etc. Just the philosophical aspects)

Were you bullied at high school? Can you tell me about how you reacted to it? If you had to write a diary about what happened at the time, what would you have written? I was frequently teased and sometimes bullied during primary school. In my early teens (12-14) I was mostly excluded/ignored. I wou...

Teaching myself Japanese has become my new favourite obsession. I've always adored Japanese culture, movies, manga, anime etc. and I really want to go to Japan someday. So one day I just thought: Why not? I only started about a month ago, but I've already learned hiragana, katakana and a bit (maybe ...

I twitch occasionally, but it becomes a necessity when I'm experiencing a lot of anxiety and/or a meltdown. Twitching is a way of releasing all the pressure building up inside me and it helps me relax afterwards. For example if I'm having a meltdown in school (happens too often) I'll lock myself in ...

My teeth brushing routines are quite regular + I chew peppermint gum during the day to get with of the taste of food.

On the other hand it's only been about a year since I started showering more than once a week. Now it's about 2-3 times a week and that suits me just fine.

Taken (where I wasn't aware of it) on a school trip last winter, where I had to sleep in the same room as 5 other teenage girls. I certainly wasn't in a very good mood on that trip compared to everyone else.

I really wouldn't mind a chocolate milkshake.

But no seriously: I really want to become a veterinarian and to do that it would help to not become completely drained physically and emotionally every time I have everyday conversations.

This show is amazing! The original Danish/Swedish version (Broen/Bron) aired 1½ years ago and they just finished filming the second season. It's really incredible and Sofia Helin (the original aspie) is incredible. I was an extra on the second season and I had written, when I applied, that I had AS,...
