Good for you, OOM! By the way, I've always wondered how you got the name Olive Oil Mom. What's the story there? Thanks Bea and everyone else too. As for my user name, my maiden name was the same as a major brand of olive oil and my mother and I used to tell people that it was spelled the same when ...

Thanks for that detailed explanation OliveOilMom (sincere, I'm not being sarcastic) -- that is a good and informative post. I see a bit more into what this is about. Still wince at the word but I see the mechanisms a bit more, and the correlation with "trashy behavior" clarifies a bit mor...

Wow I just lost an entire damn post due to the log-out glitch. But I was going to say, I just have never been able to get my head around how calling anyone trash isn't exactly the same as calling them garbage, because those two things literally mean the same thing in their normal usage. I can't see...

Crock pots are great for the cheapest eats. Makes them tender. Get a thing of stew meat or beef tips or get the butcher to cut up whatever cheap cut of meat that will make about three cups. Put that in. Put in a can of Campbell's golden mushroom soup. Has to be that kind. One envelope of Lipton or k...

I terms of my conception of "Eurotrash," I plead guilty to being "behind the times." Not to being wrong. I never heard it applied to music except the song Eurotrash Girl. I assumed it applied to trashy Europeans like those guys in the pointy shoes, shiny shirts and entirely too m...

My mother's side is all white trash and my dads side is Italian but not eurotrash. They are that hard working immigrant type. My husband's family is society descended from landed gentry aristos in England. Not nobs, unfortunately but gentry. They don't much care for me, but I know how to behave like...

Tell the others that he's full of s**t and that you don't even talk to him. Then in front of one or two ask him what makes him go around telling folks you have that tattoo. He will probably make something up. Tell him something like "well you need to be keeping my name up out your mouth". ...

I live in gossip central and am not well liked so there are lots about me. Sometimes I just laugh and let them think the worst because I can get away with things. Other times I address the rumors directly, to an individual, and do so in such a nice and ladylike level headed manner that they feel lik...

Lots of people have that and yes some do become hoarders because they feel bad for things they throw out. It's common in childhood to think our toys and other things are alive or have feelings but we are expected to outgrow it, although many don't. There are some exercises and activities you can do ...

I've had jobs I loved and jobs I hated and jobs I sometimes loved and sometimes hated. Part time is good. I just got a part time job. I'm doing skip tracing for a bounty hunter and going on jobs with him. It's part time and I enjoy it. I've done both bounty and PI work before and you can usually set...

Look up the old threads on here by Peter hoping44 and read his Grace Saunders encyclopedia dramatics entry. Then get your son to read them and explain that is what stalking and obsession leads to. I'm in no way saying your kid will do that. I'm saying that some people do and it starts like this so m...

Get Aspie1 to chime in here. Cruises are his thing. My oldest daughter went on one with her fiance and his family when she was 17. They went to Mexico, Jamaica and the Cayman Islands. She loved it. I have a friend I went to school with who wants to go on a gay cruise but doesn't want to go alone and...

You can freeze beans as much as you want. It can just make them mushy. You can't twice freeze raw meat but you can freeze whatever else. I use my crock pot a lot. I can give you recipes. Do you eat meat? Here is a good mac and cheese recipe. Boil and drain an 8oz pack of macaroni. Put it in. Put in ...

I used to bodybuild and enjoyed how it made me look and enjoyed the strength. I have never enjoyed the actual workouts but I loved gaining strength. Especially for a girl, that can be a new and empowering thing, to be stronger than lots of guys. I should get back into that. Especially with my new job.
