To neurotypicals I say:

"I'm a good man and I'm doing my best. You're just as strange to me as I am to you."

Hi guys! I've had a great deal of psychotherapy, but one delusion I have not been able to shake is the idea that disagreement means hostility . I find it especially hard to cope with my therapist disagreeing with me. Is this an Aspergic trait? As an Aspergic I am very sure that there can be only one...

Sometimes, people just don't click with their therapist. If you've been with her for that long and you still don't connect then it's probably time to find a new therapist. But I do connect with her on almost every other issue. As an Aspie, I don't have many relationships that really work, and I am ...

"Understanding" for you is a largely intellectual process as opposed to what? An un-intellectual process? Please clarify?

I think my therapist understands by intuition and feelings.

Hi guys! I'm dismayed and upset. After nine years of telling her my innermost secrets, I still feel that my therapist still doesn't understand me. If fact, she doesn't even get that we have different ideas about understanding. We can generally connect but there is no connection on this issue, and th...

Yes. There are some weeks when I am more easily overwhelmed, I lose my cool more and have to take more time out than usual.

My Aspergers seems to come in bursts of about a week.
Is Aspergers something that can be "triggered"?
Or perhaps it feeds on other conditions like tiredness or stress?

What do you think?

I was a know-it-all, but this is something I've been working on.
These days I let people make mistakes without correcting them.

My wife says it is a myth that Aspies have low empathy.

When an Aspie knows someone well enough to read them, he or she can be very empathetic. The difficulty is is reading the feeings of strangers, not in relating to those feelings.

I think I'm fairly empathetic, but it's difficult to know because NTs lie all the time.

If you can find work where you have little contact with people, and you enjoy it and it is a good fit for you, do it! Why not? If I could find that, I'd go for it. I have a friend who does computer programming from home. His wife is worried about him. When he had to travel or go into the office, he...

No skill as an engineer from me, but I've been working tech support and so had alot of customer contact. My troubles over the years came almost exclusively from other staff esp. managers and team leaders. With respect to customer contact, I think it's a skill that can be learnt, and it shouldn't be...
