The Asperger's that I was so convinced I had some time ago when I was recovery from a stress related Psychosis is looking increasingly more and more like Severe Social Anxiety Disorder now that I have been seeking Professional assistance with my problems in the last two months. When doing things lik...

Thanks for the replies, I'm still open-minded about being NT, I've done the Aspie test numerous times and I've come out as NT. as an Aspie and as a combo of the two, so maybe I'm on the cusp.

Do you think Aspergers has a graded level or spectrum of severity in the same way Autism itself is described? I'm wondering this because I've never had any problems interpreting tone of voice or facial expressions or when people are being sarcastic or reading double meaning into peoples intentions o...

I think the reason we speak like we do ie; fast, quiet and nervous or inappropriately loud is because our brains and nervous systems are constantly being trashed by over activity I have a low, fast, nervous sounding voice and I used to think I had a voice problem caused by social anxiety disorder but...

I'm based in Ireland and having a really hard time of it this evening, recently self diagnosed but expecting a full diagnosis in the coming months, what I really hate about AS is the way it emasculates you, ( I have one of those shy, gentle, aloof personalities with the fast, detectably nervous speech...

Yes I would. I know I wouldn't be me but I don't care - I don't like being me, and it would make me a lot happier and many others around me a lot happier. Sure I will still have some faults because nobody's perfect, but I would be able to walk out in the street without giving off an unsociable nerv...

No offence to those who think otherwise, but I was out last night with a few of the work crowd and sat there in envy at their ability to make jokes, stories, banter, convey emotion and feeling in their communication, switch conversation, tease and get the best of of a night out, all the while sittin...

Always sad when someone passes, but have to say not a fan, backed the Iraq War and my take on God is 'can't prove he/she/it does / doesn't exist' so agnosticism is the only rational position.

You've nothing to lose either by believing, so may as well believe.

I'm recently diagnosed and I've always wondered why NT never got my jokes when they were meant to be conveying irony or sarcasm. They would always return a comment in line with me just having made a serious statement. It's because my voice doesn't permit me to tell a joke that conveys irony or sarca...

I'm a recently diagnosed Aspie, anyone had any problem with the above, eventhough I'm a middle of the road, blokeish heterosexual I've always overheard comments from strangers in public places. Do you think that there's an 'Aspie look' or 'Aspie vibe' that we have that NT's pick up upon and misconst...

I'm no expert on the condition and don't feel entirely comfortable typing this but I have thought back to a couple of instances of meltdown where I've had a go at people whom I've perceived as having said things about me, I know that the only perception that you have is your own, but I'm 100% adaman...

You have my sympathies, I'm a 39 year old male in Dublin and I've found out the hard way that I have AS, I'm recovering from a Psychotic episode that occurred 3 weeks ago, one of the most despairing and frightening experiences of my life, fortunately I was strong and long in the tooth enough not to ...
