Some best selling authors seem to specialize in dialogue that sounds a bit odd and isn't how people speak. I'm thinking about Murakami in The Wind Up Bird Chronicle, Dance Dance Dance, The Wild Sheep Chase, etc. Sometimes the strangeness of dialogue, the coldness or directness, adds to the character...

That's really good Trinidy. I wish you success. I too don't find it hard to do dialogue on the page, ther's much more time to think about it than in real life.. You can mull over things for days before committing a character to something. The problem I am having now though is that I've written about...

I have times when that feeling takes over too.. or maybe my version of it... often it's led to me being self destructive... I don't know how to handle it except I find that if I'm involved with some project I don't feel it while engaged... but then it comes back after or during breaks...I often find...

I went to a creative writing class for two years. The theme was Autobiography and the Imagination. Since then I've understood much more how to write and be interesting. I've written two novels since, and a wole load of short stories too, but neither of the novels have been published. The last one, w...

Is it a story of someone who is not clever who becomes clever via some experiment and then the cleverness fades? If it is I read it long ago. It's a good story.

It's like people blaming the fast-food industry for childhood obesity, when it's the kids themselves who are stuffing their fat faces and filling their fat bellies with all that fat-laden food. It's lame excuse to abdicate personal responsibility for one's own actions by blaming anything other than...

If you want to get the writing out there you can send your stories to one of the many writing competitions which you can find online. This can be very disappointing when you are rejected time after time but if you learn to expect rejection it can be useful because you have a deadline on which you mu...

Thank you Dunnyveg. Your reply is really interesting. You saw the psychiatrist for valium; the same reason I took so many illegal drugs when I was a teenager and into twenties... to cope with social situations. In fact eventually I took up the life of a heroin addict for a while because on heroin I ...

Hellos all round. I'm newish on here. I've done some web based tests which come out in favour of me being an aspie. I haven't told anyone about it, not even my gf of long standing though she has her suspicions about me. I've been secretive. I've kept her life exciting over the years, (if nothing els...

Hello I'm new on this site too but I live in Brighton and my gf of long standing is a silver jeweler-- is that a weird coincidence or what? Probably not. Anyway welcome to Brighton to you and your bf. I hope you can stay. I think I probably have Asperger type thingy. I did some web tests which say i...
