Even ignoring for the moment the lack of social programs in the USA, Americans seem willing to do all that they can to feign devotion to their employers, and don't view two weeks of vacation per year as ungenerous. People in other countries are nowhere near as crazy. Speaking as an American, I tend...

I actually don't understand either philosophical outlook. It's been a problem for me most of my life. I fail to make a distinction between working and living because I do not cease to live while I'm working - the two things are under the same category of experience.

I'm not sure what can be done to move towards goals and desires, etc..., (aside from purely pragmatic exercises - attaining an income, budgeting, investing, and things of that nature) because, though I have the same personal goals and desires as other people, I fail to understand how one goes about ...

How would a medical diagnosis confer a person with a sense of identity? What is identity, anyhow? You're assuming the term is unambiguous when it is not. You say: Sometimes getting a diagnosis can wreak havoc with your sense of identity because you are focussed only on what is wrong with you and you...

I would ignore myself when I'm depressed, if it were possible. That's a confusing thought, but there it is. I'm unpleasant when I'm depressed. I'm often nervous, anxious and can take offense to random things when I'm depressed. I unintentionally cause offense far more often when I'm depressed. I am ...

First pay down your current student loans. It is unwise to get too far in debt. Then save up enough money to take time off for going back to school. Then look into going back to school. As for the computer design work, if it really turns you off, or feels too permanent, don't take the job. But reme...

Is it possible to use your computer major to work now and do the botany part time until completion? Or do finances not allow for that option due to student loans? I don't really know. The only option I have for putting my current major to work is to take the offer from this entrepreneur guy I've be...

So now that I no longer have a huge chunk of brain-power devoted to something else, I'm going to try this again. I have to prioritize - I tend to want to escape from doing things I feel forced into doing, and I can't without causing huge flareups of anxiety because I know I should be doing the thing...

I would like to, but no matter what I do, it seems like I start descending into a kind of dysphoric living-death when I make an attempt. So I don't try and just settle for what little social interaction I can find, anywhere I can find it.

So nobody actually knows of a way of improving this? I don't know if I'm typical in this sense, but I take adderall and it helps me quite a bit with this problem -- when I can afford the full monthly prescription. Lack of health insurance is diabolical. What is adderall prescribed for? ADHD? ADHD a...

Every time I talk to someone on the phone, this happens to me. Almost without fail - words start to jumble together and I have to say "what?" constantly. I usually blame it on my cellphone's reception to avoid any weird questions people might have. It also happens in conversations with certain peopl...

"Argh, please, no, I don't want to walk all the way to the stupid tobacco store this early. I wish I had a car that I could drive. I wish I had customers that could relay their ideas clearly over email and didn't require me to walk all the freaking way to wherever they are so I can figure out what o...
