A lot has happened since I was here regularly. I’ve been in therapy for the past couple months and I’ve realized a lot about myself. The big one is that, now, I’m not so sure I’m on the spectrum. I’m pretty sure my dad is. When I was younger, I tried hard to hide my feminine side and put on a mascul...

Wow. This is a blast from the past!

Funny story: over the past 5 or so years, I’ve finally admitted to myself that I’m trans. I came out publicly and started my transition in 2021.

I’ve never been happier! I’m so much happier now that I’m not pretending to be a guy. I’m much more myself as a girl :)

No one has actually said this to me, but I fear someone will. What you described about pretending to be normal for so long and finally dropping the act is exactly what I'm going through. It took a long time to finally accept I'm autistic (was finally diagnosed last summer), and now I'm finally embra...

I've gotten the "you're so smart you can do anything" line many many times. It's actually really frustrating because people just assume I'm "normal" and they can't comprehend that I find "simple" things difficult to do. I do not wish to be normal. I wish for people to u...

Being a fan of MLP certainly isn't "macho", but I don't see what's wrong with liking things that aren't macho. I think people who try to be as macho as possible, and dismiss things like MLP in the process, are usually quite insecure about themselves. IMO, self-confidence is a much better ...

I've been away from this forum for a while.... I find it ironic that I see this post when I come back because I really got into playing Minecraft a few days ago! I'm also a MLP fan. I wasn't really into Sonic when I was a kid.... so I got 2 out of 3! :p As for the "type" of man who likes M...

Yes, I am. I don't want sex at all, but I'm not opposed to being in a relationship. I could see myself getting married if I found someone I could really get along with (as long as sex wasn't a part of the relationship).

I wasn't diagnosed until I was 29, so no one knew I was autistic when I was a kid. A few of my elementary school teachers knew there was something "different" about me. One of them suggested to my mom that I may have ADD (this was in the early '90s), but my mom didn't believe her. She just...

I really dislike uncertainty. When I first found out that I was probably on the spectrum, the uncertainty of not knowing for sure whether I was autistic or not was horrible. I completely obsessed over it trying to find some kind of certainty. My diagnosis isn't "on paper", meaning it's not...

When I was about 10, my dad and I were on a trip to visit family. He was looking through tapes to find some music to listen to. He asked me "Do you like Eagles?", and I replied "YES! Eagles are my favorite kind of bird!"

I LOVE this thread! I was diagnosed last July, and I'm working on figuring out how to turn off the "act" and really be myself. It's weird to think that it's actually hard to be yourself, or even to not be sure what the "real you" looks like. I'm really lucky to have a few good, c...

My mom has said I was always a bit different, but she really noticed a change when I was in middle school (about 12 or 13 years old). I think it was because of the added stress of a more complex social atmosphere at school. A couple of my elementary school teachers noticed there was something odd ab...

This happens to me too. When I get quite upset or angry, I find it very hard to speak coherently. I tend to stutter and not be able to figure out what words I want to use.

All the time!

I'll have sounds that I like repeat over and over in my head. Anything from my friend's voice saying a certain word, to my camera's shutter.

The only way I can describe it is a photographic memory, but for sounds...
