I really am rubbish at doing anything with my hair. It is very straight and kind of a dull dirty highway colour, and in the past few years I have just had it in a between-chin-and-shoulder bob. But last time I let them cut it more layered, and as it has grown out of that, I either have to work at ma...

Thanks for the tip about Aven, I had no idea such a group existed. Like many, I figured for ages I was the only one who was all "meh" about sex and even sexual attraction.

My kids are crafty. They have figured out that if they want to stay up later, all they have to do is get me talking about science.

As a teen, I would talk about movies all the time, and at times essentially speak in quotes. The group I hung out with eventually told me not to, in a hurtful enough way that I learnt my lesson and actively avoided any mention. So much so that I actually started disliking even watching movies. The i...

I suspect most bullies never saw themselves as bullies, the instances that were terrifying and traumatic to us were just goofing around and having a bit of fun for them. They probably never realized it had such an effect on others. At least that is what I tell myself when I see they are quite honest...

Forum: General Autism Discussion   Topic: Autism/Asperger's and Emotions: What emotions can you feel?

I feel loads of emotions, but cannot separate them from each other, they sort of form a solid mass. Subsequently, any emotional event can trigger all the other emotions, so I cry at the drop of a hat, for no apparent reason. This has also caused me to block all emotions to avoid the triggering ones,...

I kick off my shoes whenever possible. Also at work, and only put them on if I have to leave our floor. On weekends and in the summer I am sometimes even without socks at work. At home I usually have socks, as I hate the feel of sand and other gritty things that my dog and also people's shoes have b...

I took a test just for fun as a bunch of people were doing it, was not expecting anything unusual as I didn't even know what Asperger's was. So when it said I was probably an aspie, I took another online test, and another, about five in total + one for alexithymia. All strongly aspie. But I am an ad...

If you ever do get a diagnosis, let us know, yeah? Almost everything you said describes me completely (except I don't mind fictional physical violence - not something I seek out, but it doesn't bother me. Real violence like violent sports does, as does emotional/verbal abuse), to the point where it ...

I was in the computer software business since 1959 till I retired in 2001. When I started there were no computer science courses given in any American college or university. "Computer Science" in those days was considered a sub specialty of electrical engineering or applied mathematics. So all my e...

Also an atheist.

Probably because I need reasons to believe extraordinary things rather than reasons not to.

Believing is not really a choice. You can decide what interests and information you pursue which will ultimately contribute to your experience and take on the matter, and in what order you absorb the information (what you believe first has the strongest hold), but you cannot control what you actuall...

I am also in IT/tech support. But I find that only tangentially customer service, to me it is mostly problem-solving, and my work is also largely admin work with rights, etc.

But I worked as a telephone operator in a retail company for years. Hell. Absolutely horrific.
