Going back to the original topic - I've noticed parents of Autistic children are worse than Autistic adults. I post on a Facebook group which is mostly full of parents with Autistic children and there's a lot of "how do I get this and that?" There was one moaning because they only got one night per ... |

Some of us have received no support following our diagnosis. When I complained about this, I was told that I was signposted to support. Except, I wasn't, really.
Some people think that because I'm high functioning, I don't need support. I am also physically disabled. |

I really don't agree with the idea that someone should use their child's disability to avoid working for a living. I don't either. I do understand people saying they can't work (but would love to) because of their child's disability. (because it's not possible to work during the day if you're up fo... |

I have friends with children on the spectrum who don't want a cure. Their argument being (which I agree with) that it'll change the child's personality; but no-one knows how their personality will change. Which is why I don't want a cure. I have also come across parents who get a diagnosis for their... |

What would this cure do? It would most certainly change your personality and maybe a few other bits you don't want / need changing. |

There is a cure, but it's not simple and it's not a little pill or a magic formula. It's learning to adapt. Going by your bizarre logic, a blind person who has adapted to their disability is cured because they've adapted. Yet, they're still blind and they still have the disease which caused them to... |

So could someone tell me why a 60 something year old woman who would not be conscripted to the military and has no need to claim disability benefits and is gainfully employed would want an Asperger label? Cognitive dissonance. People will go through all kinds of mental gymnastics to convince themse... |

When I went to a special school in 1997, I was a rare case. Everyone else were mentally ret*d infantile autists. Then there came others like me. And then some who were more well-functioning than me. And then some that are so socialized that I can't see the difference between them and Neurotypicals.... |

Discussion on another forum: It started off asking if you'd date someone with Autism / Aspergers and then turned into "well, everyone has Autistic traits" and because of this, there supposedly should be no issue with dating someone with AS / Autism. I said I find this is insulting and believe it's w... |
