@momsparky- we'll have to try that- I really like how you framed the comment and thought to your son. Ours may respond to that one... Thanks!

Some info here: http://www.myaspergerschild.com/2012/06/aspergers-children-who-worry.html Not sure if this would work in our case though, as they are more of an ebb and flow type of thing I suspect. But, maybe not- he may have constant thoughts about this, but only lets it outwardly bother him once ...

As Mom said, we're trying to figure this one out together... :) Bombaloo- you are right about the logical rationalization, he does not respond too well to that. Well, sometimes he will, but it seems to be temporary sometimes. More commonly in fact- he seems to even miss your point about knowing in h...

We are currently dealing with fears of our house being broken into, which is preventing our Son from being able to sleep. What has anyone been able to do when you try to use these techniques and no matter how much rational thinking you use, your child will still come up with some reason why it will ...

Great info, everyone... Thank you! As I had read before, the comments about his plushies still sounds true, and common. I know Greeny is his favorite, we even had to dress him in clothes since he is starting to fray around the edges and has been fixed numerous times. Actually, Greeny is now wearing ...

Shopping shoes for my son is always a multi hour enjoyment... We do have 2-3 pairs that he will wear. Socks are a bigger issue than shoes though.

We've been having a hard time with our son lately, and wanted some input from other parents/Aspies on an issue that seems to be getting more common and somewhat more challenging. As many Aspies do, he has fantasy and reality. He has a stuffed animal that he sleeps with every night that he thinks is ...

My 8 year old Aspie said this morning "I have Aspergers and I would never do anything like that to someone. I don't think he did that because he had Aspergers, I think he did it because he was a sad and angry person that needed help but got really upset because he thought the world was going to end ...

Maybe you can explain this.. Why is it he hates to admit he was wrong, even when he is faced with proof? My thoughts for what they are worth: To some degree everyone likes to be validated, but yes I think people on the spectrum value it more. When it is so hard to gauge things, whether it is body l...

I agree with the last post- you can affect your child's reaction to situations. I don't think you can make the "Aspergers" gene or whatever you wish to tag it better or worse, but you can certainly affect how your child reacts to situations because they are dealing with it by how you approach it. If...

It is quite amazing how much strength is inside such a tiny body. I've had to carry my niece kicking and screaming up two flights of stairs. It's NOT easy in the least. How true!! ! Our son is so strong now, and he's only 8- that I can have a hard time sometimes... We got him one of those Franklin ...

When did saying someone having a "lazy performance" equal "he lost because he's just a lazy black guy?" I don't buy that argument. Here are Sununu's quotes: – Obama is foreign. Obama doesn’t understand the “American system” because “he spent his early years in Hawaii smoking something, spent the nex...

What turns me off about the republicans is their arrogance. When a republican talks to me it is like I do not exist. Can't say that describes a lot of Republicans I know, and certainly not myself. Although I'm a registered Republican, I find myself drawing away from them year by year, and plan to d...

Plus the Obama campaign machine is very very good at what they do. Maybe the best. That helped other races. Republicans will copy it now. I absolutely agree with that. I know for years I have watched the Democratic party run campaigns and think (sometimes out loud) "What the hell are the Republican...

They'd better realize that it is possible to be a fiscal conservative, but also think mainstream on social issues- that gays should be able to marry and enjoy same-sex benefits, not think that it is your place to control a woman's right to choose, and have no problem with any member of society livin...
