I'm so glad that the Internet wasn't around when I was a kid and that my mom wasn't/isn't famous because she would most definitely be a Jenny McCarthy and I would never live down the humiliation. My autistic little brother takes care of my mom now. Jenny McCarthy may one day find her poor crazy self... |

I'm pretty sure everyone can justifiably be called weird. If someone called me weird, I'd be like, "You mean 'awesome'? That's what you meant, right?" But then, I'm NT. I'll bet if you took any NT and pointed out their weirdness or faults they would just look puzzled and not be offended at all. I'm ... |

There's more to that scene. Black men have had to stand by and watch white men take advantage of black women for hundreds of years. If they tried to do anything about it in, say, slave times or Jim Crow times, the black man would be severely punished or killed. Those feelings still exist in black cu... |

I've been in a 20 year relationship with my aspie husband and I'm NT. I agree with the previous poster who said you should ask yourself if you are really happy with the man your future spouse currently is. Yes, aspies can learn to be more considerate and understand NTs more with age, but we're talki... |

This really irritated me today. I mean, I realize there are moms who murder their kids and maybe that's worse than Jenny McCarthy, but jeez. She really needs to leave her poor kid alone already. |

You're supposed to act as if you've been waiting your entire life to work at that place in that particular job. Even if it's cleaning up vomit all day long and you intend to quit the next day.
When I was working I was a hiring manager. |

I'm NT, but I've worked in a place like that before, and it was AWFUL. Someone described to me once what it's like to have a rotten tooth that needs to be pulled. How it slowly creeps up on you and before you know it you're in pain all the time. You don't realize how miserable you've been until the ... |

Screen_name had some great suggestions, which I would like to second. I had some other thoughts: -If you can do earplugs or headphones, rocking would be pretty appropriate even in front of people. It would just look like you were rocking out to music. -You could try to change comforting stimming thi... |

1 in 25 people is a sociopath, according to "The Sociopath Next Door". Who knows whether or not this guy really is a sociopath. But that's a messed up thing to say. I would seriously not see this advisor again and ask for a new one. They might not believe that he said this to you, but you should nev... |

Oh my dear god is my reaction to this bill. I have a gay black friend (who is also tall and broad shouldered, and looks like a ninja turtle, but that's beside the point). He drives a pretty nice car and is a manager at a restaurant, so he's out late a lot. Anyone want to guess how many times he's be... |

It seems like whenever I meet a special ed teacher or really any teacher who has ever had an autistic student they think they're an expert on it. And my advocacy ideas are just silly because I don't "really" deal with autistic people. Waaay back in the day when I was elementary school there were all... |

I've often heard that consistency (especially in texture) is also important. One of my aspie family members told me that processed foods like chips are usually the same, which makes him able to enjoy them without finding something "unexpected", like a hard spot in bread. I've seen him gag and nearly... |

I agree that books can be a lot more helpful. That way you can skip stuff you already know and focus in on stuff you wouldn't have thought of yourself. Also, I hate to say this, but anti-anxiety medications can help aspies deal with NTs and NT environments. It's awful to think that one might need me... |

I'm not saying that he has a well-thought out plan to seduce and marry you. Guys often find their female friends attractive in one way or another and sometimes they get a little confused. I think this is often completely unconscious on their part. Some women won't be friends with hetero guys at all ... |
