I agree that one meal a day that's not terribly nutritious won't kill her. My Aspie daughter is a very picky eater. She will only eat goldfish crackers and Oreos at school I pack a peanut butter sandwich but she won't eat it. I figure she gets a healthy breakfast and dinner. She's very tall and trim...

Ok, then how about this. due to her AS that she lacks empathy, therefore lacks the normal feeling one would have for a savior dying for our sins, which by the way, we all have. Your daughter has enough problems in life without her own parents telling her she is an ugly person even in the eyes of he...

I wonder the same thing! |

As a child I had Christianity forced down my throat with physical beatings for refusing to pray aloud to God. "Jesus is love WHACK!" So you can see why I feel empathy for this poor girl resisting being indoctrinated and nothing but contempt for her parents. The least they could do is allow her the ...

Hello, I have AS and I was raised in a very "Christian" home. My problem was always that I would read very clear, logical statements in the bible that made perfect sense to me, and than witness behavior in church and in my supposedly Christian home that was contradictory to what I read. I could mak...

What if someone told you that starting tomorrow, you would have to face the east, kneel, and pray to Allah. If you are incensed by the idea of this it is probably because you dislike someone forcing their beliefs on you. Maybe your daughter feels the same way. Let me just say to you all that we are...

Well, second visit to the psychiatrist. I told her the Prozac was having too many side effects so she switched my daughter to Zoloft. I have to wait a week to start it. I am going to tell the school next week. Things have just gotten to be too much for my daughter and they have to be able to underst...

Neither of my kids (one on the spectrum, one not) like milk. Must take after me, I always hated it. I'm not lactose intollerant, I just can't stand the texture. My daughter who is 12 has never liked white milk, only chocolate when I can get her to drink it. Other than that, she only drinks water. S...

My daughter is 12 and has Asperger's. She started out having sensory issues when she was about 4 months old. Of course we had no idea why all the baby toys that played music made her cry or why she gagged on certain textures of food. We were clueless as to why she lined her foam letters up all thru ...

Hi,
I agree that she needs a different doctor, but what should I do for the 6 months it takes to get an appointment? I just hope I can find another one that is covered on my insurance. My fear is that the next one will be the same. |

I'm very skeptical as well, and like check out lots of different opinions on things like this. It does make sense that if someone's obsessiveness relieves their anxiety that it must be OCD. Having obsessive behavior as in the way my daughter liked to "collect" things because she liked them sounds mo...

I am just so confused by what the dr said. I've never noticed what I would consider OCD in my child. She obsesses over things, more so when she was younger, but doesn't do things over and over such as th classic example of washing hands. She's more of the type to (in the past) obsess over crocs shoe...

What are your opinions of this? Are you an aspie with dreams of having children? I am myself a person with asperger syndome. Having children really frightens me, and I would panic if I made a girl pregnant. It seems that children are really hard work, and I allways think my parents would have had a...

I worry about when my kids leave the safety of my home, even though we are years away from that. I could never dream of not discussing their issues with them before they leave. They need to know where their weaknesses are and how to compensate for them. I do think sometimes kids who learn to fly un...
