For me, it comes and goes. If I'm feeling good, I can have a pretty long, passionate discussion about my interests, as long as the person I'm talking to is as obviously passionate about it as I am and has some information about it that I didn't all ready have. If I don't get that kind of feedback, I...

Well, maybe this whole thread is better suited for The Haven, I don't know. Anyway, no one's answered my question yet. What is the difference between an AS meltdown and a NT meltdown? I mean, NTs must have those kinds of moments sometimes as well, right? What makes the one I had an AS meltdown? I d...

I have a problem with feeling like someone is telling me I have to do something when they make plans. I REALLY hate when someone tells me I have to do something, even if it's in my own best interests. I have to try really hard not to "cut off my nose to spite my face" as they say. I generally like m...

I love love love that song. The original artist was Plumb, Plummet covered it later. I only know her version, never heard Plummet's. It's on her album "candycoatedwaterdrops". There is a very good techno remix of the song too, which I also love, though the different sound/tempo almost gives the song...

So anyone who simply disagrees with the majority viewpoint here is deliberately antagonzing people, and may indeed be a troll? Can't you and others here handle alternate views? I probably represent the majority view in society, so you better be able to deal with this in the future. Actually no, act...

I'm actually really good at remembering names of famous people and movies, and cross-referencing those. I'm the one that people will ask who someone is and what they were in. But when it comes to people I've actually met, I am horrible at remembering their names. It took me a couple weeks to remembe...

So aspergers isn't a legitimate disability, if you're homeless you're lazy and if you're young you should just get over it? If I have misunderstood you then a sincerely apologies but this is how you've sounded to me. It's not just you, he's managed to endear himself to many people by talking like t...

So your generation is the first one to deal with these issues? Hardly. Others throughout history have faced much worse. Appreciate what you have, work hard to achieve your goals in life, and don't expect much sympathy from the world. Rely on friends and family, rather than the government and the me...

As soon as the topic changes to a special interest, I become extremely chatty and enjoy conversation immensely. Other than that, I'm bad at conversing and I dislike it - one word/syllable answers are common, as well as flat out ignoring the person talking to me. That is me exactly. If it's about on...

Ooh, I remember one autopilot moment in specific. This was at a band practice - one moment I'm talking with our keyboardist and our sax player, then I start walking over by my amp, only to realize I had a sheet of paper in my hand (it was a tentative set list for our next gig), and I had no memory ...

I have no problem with people with serious forms of autism receiving government disability checks. However, it's all too easy for psychologists, psychiatrists, etc. to start diagnosing (and inevitably over-diagnosing) young people with autism disorders., and then the taxpayers have to foot the bill...

This all relates to my idea of aspergers as a state of not having a coherent sense of 'self' as a 'social actor'. The inner experience of my mind is a sort of cloud of ideas and impressions. To connect that cloud with a physical presence, as seen by others, is unnerving. My issue with pictures, mov...

As far as I can tell, it's talking about inane subjects that no one actually cares about to fill time and attempt to ingratiate yourself to others, particularly to strangers whom you will likely never see again. But I'm completely incapable of it, so I suppose I wouldn't be the one you'd ask. I've w...
