Ever lived on a council estate? It doesn't take much to make people hate your guts. You just have to be a little different.

This is horrible but it is unusual for a community to react so viciously towards a weirdo. I'd like to know more about what this guy was doing. The article says a charity group helped him move several times and he still kept getting into trouble. I'm an aspie and I've never had problems with my neig...

From what I've heard of terrorist groups, these are very close-knit, conformist, emotionally-bonded groups. This doesn't sound like the kind of people who would embrace somebody who is socially stunted, aloof and withdrawn.

Asperger's is not a mental illness. Of course Aspies can have co-morbids but I'm not sure what you imply when you say "mental disorders".

Whatever. Aspies are abnormal. Their behavior and capacities will create all sorts of problems that terrorist cells might not want to deal with.

It's hard to believe. I've always thought of psychopathy and Asperger's as mutually exclusive conditions. Psychopaths are extroverts, aspies are introverts. Psychopaths crave excitement and new stimulations, whilst Aspies love routine and hate novelty. Psychopaths have shallow emotions, whereas Asp...

Terrorists are known to avoid people who have mental disorders, as they tend to be security risks. Being a good terrorist requires having nerves of steel and a sense of discretion and disguise. They do not want someone who has a meltdown because plans had to be changed at the last minute, or because...

Self-report tests are no longer used in prisons precisely because the subjects know they are being evaluated and will try to game the system. Sociopaths have theory of mind. They are brilliant con artists, and you need theory of mind to manipulate people. This faculty is somewhat harmed by the fact ...

I've always been reluctant to use the word Asperger's because it's now a label to which prejudices can be attached to. If people puzzle over my behavior, they might just say "Bifford is just... weird or something". But if I say "Asperger's", I bring up all sorts of negative prejudices. So I prefer t...

Sometimes, people will stop me and point on how rude I just behaved, and I'll plead ignorance and lack of malice. But generally, I tend to be the opposite: I tend to think people dislike me more than they actually do, that they are more unforgiving than they actually. I'm paranoid, I guess.

:words: In that first quote by Tesla, he seems to be saying that humans have lots of superstitions and misconceptions because they are bad at observing and remembering what goes on around them, and thus cannot connect cause to effect. I'm not sure what he's saying in the second quote. There is some...

Autistic kids steal, particularly the more severe cases. I've met a couple. If they saw something that fascinated them, they just took it. They never lied about their thefts and when the items were taken back they became confused and upset, so they're not like your typical anti-social thief who unde...

This is what should have happened. Have the object taken away immediately and be forced to write a letter saying I was sorry for my actions and mail the item back because it was not right for me to have it. Also, explaining that if something of mine was taken, how would I feel and so on, making it ...

Autism should be curable for those who wish it. If some people are comfortable with the condition, that's their choice, their problem. Autistic people have been disabled all their lives and don't know what it's like to be normal, so it's natural for them to fear a change. They don't know any better....

I was diagnosed with ASD by my shrink, but I don't see myself in all the symptoms I read on Wikipedia. Yes, the social and communication difficulties are there, but I have no problems dealing with change (quite the opposite, my parents were frustrated that I didn't structure my daily life at all) an...

Is this what autism does? Im so lost in all of this, I cant understand it... Anyway, thanks for reading. Any and all advice is appreciated. :) It's part of the problem. Autistic and ASD people have zero empathy and have trouble conceiving that other people have different feelings and opinions. Even...
