Miscommunications are inevitable in any autistic community, because communication issues are part of the diagnosis. Additionally, bad live experiences survived by many of us may make us hyper-vigiliant in seemingly safe situations. We need really a lot of patience for each other, in any community. ...

Malcolm X (1992) was the last one I watched. What is your opinion? It was pretty faithful to the book. I wouldn't recommend watching it before reading the book as it can be difficult to follow along -- my husband hadn't read the book, and he needed me to explain the context for a lot of the scenes.

The ridicule, condescension, and rudeness often exhibited toward us type 2s is regrettably rampant in many autism communities. Most of these communities are run by individuals who have no clinical diagnosis, or are type 1 or higher, and they expect people to read between the lines, understand humor,...

I cope by spending real, in-person time with husband. These Internet forums can only offer so much, and some are outright hostile, as my sig evidences.

I'm not good at it, but my older half-brother is a major chess fan, it's his number one special interest. He's quite good at it too, from what I understand.

Because of things, I figure it is worth making a poll. Note this is just for autistic adults only, and this is going to be separated by college graduated or not For those of you who don't have a job, I would like to know what keeps you from being homeless, how long you haven't had a STABLE job, and...

Welcome. I'm also female, but level 2, and in my 30s. I was diagnosed just prior to 30. I haven't found any good communities, most are extremely condescending toward me. There are a few people here and there that I've met and can relate to, but mostly it's been a strong challenge. As a level 1, you ...

Just had a discussion with the husband about this the other day. Agree with Obama. "Police reform" is a better phrase.

Have found ,much of the humour on any autistic site , should be well documented , when it’s written, as the variety of individuals that can appear on these site . It appears as obvious that such considerations should be allowed for .. And documented as such . Something as simple as a emoticon or th...

Also had been invited there ..... but my reason for not investigating it more thoroughly was .. not that good with lots of input . This place already can be enough for me by itself . There is definitely lots of input. None of the mods have clinically verified autism, and they expect level 2s, etc. ...

Other autism forums are no better than this one. If you are theistic, I particularly recommend you avoid Neurovoice. Someone there mocked my intelligence (because I was a theist, and he said theists cannot be rational), doubted my diagnosis, and the mods said it was allowed to stand because it was ...

Thanks, folks! The insults usually come from (seemingly) hetero men on Internet forums (I know, kind of interesting that they would go on about how good looking my guy is, and how he should do better -- maybe they are secretly interested in him? ). In person, of course, people don't say th...

Confidence is probably underrated. I'm quite reserved and timid in social situations and don't initiate conversations or draw much attention to myself. Around my beloved, I come alive and dance and make squeaky noises that he thinks are the cutest things ever. All that said, these things still don't...
