I have attempted to debate fundamentalists on several occasions. I've never gotten very far because they always fall back on the argument: "Who are we to question God? If you find scripture to be inconsistent, contradictory and immoral, it's because you lack sufficient faith for the Holy Spirit to r...

One contradiction in the Theory Of Evolution. Some species evolve very little and survive while others evolve into another species meaning they are extinct while still others may evolve and die off in a mass extinction, like when the climate changes abruptly, they lose their food source or they are...

Theory of Extinction puts the emphasis on extinction though, not evolution. It accentuates the randomness of life. Look at how rare it is, especially human life. Humans endlessly search the universe for some other intelligent life form but never find any. Either they are really good at hiding, real...

I think one of the most ignorant arguments against evolution is the old, "if we evolved from monkeys, why are there still monkeys?" Because, NUMBSKULLS , we didn't evolve from all apes, but from one specific type!! !! How hard is that to grasp? -Bill, otherwise known as Kraichgauer Even the stateme...

The worst part is, if WP only existed in my head, then I could take an anti-psychotic to get rid of some of the people on here that I can't stand. I get along with everyone - except the crazy ones (you know who you are). :D In some far off, optimistic future, there may be planets set aside for like...

I think when trying to refute or explain gay or trans pride and suggesting a corollary in being proud of being autistic, that it is vitally important to refer to the meaning of "pride" as used within the LGBT movement. You have a point but it really depends upon the context of the word "pride" that...

Evil isn't necessarily the opposite of good in the sense that it is an inverse--its the opposite of good in the sense that cold is the absence of heat. It is the lack of good. Which is why God's creations will sometimes turn against Him. Yes, evil and good exist along a spectrum of behaviour, just ...

Would you consider yourself "proud to be Autistic" similar to people saying they are proud to be GLBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual or Transgender)? While I'm not sure that anyone can technically be proud of something they didn't achieve (because they don't choose to be AS or GLBT), I think coping with h...

Do spiritual things exist? Let's call the world that we're conscious of - that we can see and experience - the physical; and that which we can only experience subconsciously, instinctively and intuitively - the spiritual. Scientists tell us that the degree of subconscious influence is at least 95%....

I dunno. Looking at history, you don't see much of man's humanity toward man. As far as war, man made famine, genocidal persecution, and the like are concerned, I think a good argument can be made that there is something inherently rotten about the human soul. And no, I'm not saying that all of us ...

Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. - Epicurus [341–270 B.C.] The reason He doesn't prevent all bad things from happening is because He won't interfere with the choices humans make, which are inevitably going t...

I believe that God ... allows evil on earth because suffering builds character and makes us better souls. Sometimes yes, but how does the suffering of innocent children build their character? What lesson does their suffering teach them later in life? What lesson does their untimely death teach them...

I also found much foundation for my faith by recognizing the reality of evolution, and how (I believe) God's hand is guiding it. I think it is a mistake for religions to reject the idea of evolution out of hand; evolution is far more apparent in the handywork of Nature than a six-day-creator's hand...

Why does God, if he exists, allow evil in the world? And, by evil I mean suffering, not so much what I consider more "moral" stuff like homosexual lifestyle, etc. I've heard the typical answer, but I wondered what you thought. Clearly if God was, as the Bible claims, all-powerful, all-knowing etc t...
