I'm quite sarcastic, but I can rarely tell if someone is being sarcastic with me. If I know them well, it's easier for me to figure it out.

Forum: Art, Writing, and Music   Topic: Why do NTs typically listen to really mindless, happy music?

I'm not NT, but I really like happy music. Music deeply affects my mood, so I can't listen to darker music without getting in a funk for the rest of the day. I HATE repetitive and/or mindless music though. That's why I'm not a fan of most of the music that my generation enjoys. I'm too analytical fo...

I think some things can definitely be harder for higher-functioning people. If someone were to look at me, they would just assume that I was a normal 19 year old female. If they tried to carry on a short, superficial conversation with me, they would assume I was a) shy, b) arrogant, or c) a jerk. If...

Oooh, I like this topic. Top 3 places you would like to travel? 1. Germany. Most of my ancestors came from there, and I would love to visit it someday. 2. England, specifically London and Liverpool. I know it's pathetic, but I want to see Abbey Road and where the Beatles grew up. 3. The moon....

"I know, right?" Why do you need verification that you know? (This might not be on topic, but that phrase annoys me.) "You're too quiet/serious/shy/uptight." "Just change your mood...it's not that hard." Um, yes it is. I don't enjoy being in bad moods. If I could get out of them, I would. I promise....

"Chains" by the Beatles. When that song ends, "Jackson" by Johnny Cash starts playing. At least I like the songs that are stuck in my head...

For a while I was collecting cow stuff, like stuffed cows and little plastic cows. Now I collect Beatles stuff. I don't really monologue, because I've realized that no one cares. Mostly because they always talk over me or interrupt me when I start talking about the Beatles, or whatever my interest i...

Taco Bell fire sauce, pencils, and a calculator. I guess I should throw the Taco Bell fire sauce away. It has graphite all over it and looks pretty nasty.

People say I am. Of course, these are people that don't know me very well. In private I'm not at all uptight or serious, but I can't help it when I'm around strangers or acquaintances.

I have accidentally injured myself multiple times because of my ridiculous clumsiness. Thankfully, my bones are REALLY strong, so I haven't broken a bone yet. I sprained my ankle by standing up once. I run into something at least twice an hour. It doesn't help that I forget I have legs/arms/a torso,...

-Whistling
-Eating noises, especially if they are REALLY loud and obnoxious
-Crowds
-Poorly written music/lyrics
-Talk radio
-Vacuum cleaners
-Ignorance/stupidity
-Unexpected touch
-Emotional displays...they make me so uncomfortable, and I never know how to handle them.

I had the same "Eureka!" moment when I read about dyscalculia as I had when I read about Asperger's Syndrome. I don't have an official diagnosis, however, so I'm not going to say that I have it. It does explain all of my struggles with math, though. Numbers have always fascinated me, because, logica...
