It's funny because NTs have that whole line about thinking before you speak I've often been accused of not thinking about others feelings or how my words might affect others before I speak. Perhaps they are not refering to thinking at all but instead to something else. Or perhaps they are thinking w...

Thank you so much moondust for your detailed response - this clarifys the senario alot and I believe it will be very helpful in avoiding future situations like these. I've suffered from this a lot in my life, so much that nowadays at the first sign of incongruence I drop them like a hot iron. Why th...

Could you give an example more in detail? there were three occations like this this year There was a guy who said he really wanted to see me this year - I asked him three times if he wanted to hang out and each time he ignored my invations. The second time he said he contacted me after the event ha...

I had this happen a few times - people tell me they really want to see me or ask me to invite them places, but when I do invite them, they either become non-responsive to my invite or become reluctant to come along. Does this happen to anyone else? What motivates this behaviour? What's the appropria...

Both things just happened to me today!! ! This drives me up the wall - it makes me want to scream. How do people manage to run a successf...

I don't understand why people get diagnosed. Unless they're trying to access some form of government care. 1. it's expensive 2. it's time consuming, time that could be better spent on special interests 3. it invokes social stigma 4. it involves regular social contact with a therapist where you have ...

Prions, internal parasites and religious martyrdom.

If you mean physical harm, when I was a kid I was obsessed with putting my hand in open flames. I don't know why.

I'm a 28 year old male with mild Asperger's. I have met many other people with asperger's throughout my lifetime although most were male. I have noticed though that the few females I have met with asperger's or ASD tended to lack any desire of sexuality. I personally have a strong sex drive even th...

If it makes you feel any better, no one is really sure if anyone has Aspergers. We're just certain that such a thing as Aspergers exists. As to doing more and talking to a therapist - if it doesn't interfere with your daily functioning then it's not a disorder and if it's not a disorder it's not wor...

But the scriptures seem pretty clear that once you die - you're done - there's nothing. Then aft...

I went through the first 14 years of my life with almost no friends at all. Now I have many, many friends whom I never take for granted. I have Aspergers and ADHD and I want people to understand that having Aspergers does not mean you are just bad at making friends. There is so much more to it than...

This used to be a big problem with me. One day I noticed it and thought from now on I would just make a decision no matter what and stick with it even if I had second thoughts. It might not be the perfect solution but it did solve my indecisiveness and it has led to a better quality of life.

The key seems to be that we do not get mad about it. I read that with Aspies, we don't show our emotions well so NTs can't tell when we're angry or upset about something. So we should identify when things are getting bad and deal with these things before we start to get angry or emotional. . . becau...

Cavendish - your ignorance really is shocking. As mentioned before, many can't work due to the ignorance of others. I am one such person. Someone (who isn't medically trained; nor is she aware what my psychiatrist and I discussed) once decided that my Autism can't be that bad. She's spent a total o...
