Depends on the sense. Vision and hearing are hypersensitive. Proprioception is hyposensitive. And tactile flip flops between hyper and hyposensitive.

Not being able to understand English. I was having an intensely emotional conversation with my partner. I was tired and stressed, so my autism issues were in fairly high gear. Half the stuff she was saying to me, I could not understand. I heard and understood the individual words, but the finished s...

Sounds like we're a bit alike. In dangerous situations, I'm calm, collected, and ready for action. It's literally saved my life a few times. Including an SUV rollover like that one. It's emotional situations that make me panic and worry. At least one book I read on Aspergers mentions how it's not un...

I broke out of semi-isolation by going to events related to my interests. Meetup.com is a great way to find some groups. There might even be an aspie meetup group near you. It's even better when the people you're meeting understand how big a step it can be to just get out. You can also try looking f...

28.

A lot of those seemed really easy though. A lot of times the eyes were looking away, and there was only one "looking away" emotion on the list. Give me a looking away face and ask me to pick between embarrassed, guilty, etc. and I wouldn't do as well.

I've got the reverse problem. I gave up on identifying that pause, so I wait. Sometimes I time it okay, and sometimes I create an awkward silence. Especially on the phone. There are some nonverbal cues I can pick up that mean "I'm done, your turn", but on the phone, I don't get them. I also don't ne...

Where do you live? What state? country?

Some state universities have entire online degree programs now. I've heard Washington State has a bachelor's in psychology that is entirely online, which I'll be looking into soon.

Well, I find my sense of humor perfectly normal. Everyone else has a strange sense of humor. Which I know is another way of saying the same thing. I really enjoy clever "high brow" humor. Slapstick and awkward situation humor falls flat for me. I will also find things in my environment completely hi...

Do be very conscious of those self harming thoughts. Talk to your doctor, especially if they get worse. Lexapro works for some people, but it made me more depressed. I think I was on it for about four weeks when I had my suicide attempt. The drug was at least partly to blame. Now they know Lexapro a...

Being on the right medication is a great thing. Being on the wrong medication is rough. If possible, get your prescriptions from a psychiatrist with experience working with people on the spectrum, because we can react to these sorts of medications differently. After the various drugs they put me on ...

Yeah, it's a shock. When I got my diagnosis a few months ago, my world turned upside down. I was useless for anything for several weeks. It just takes a while to adjust to that kind of information. So I'd say your reaction isn't outside of the normal range. You may find the diagnosis a good thing ov...

Still trying to find that special talent myself. One thing that comes to mind is I'm apparently a very good listener. People I've just met will tell me their life stories and big worries. People on forums will approach me for advice on life and for someone to listen to them. Outside of that, I tend ...

Ye gods, I was so much worse before my diagnosis. I was depressed, I thought people were insane and cruel, jobs were absolute misery, and my family and partner often wondered if I loved them or if I was even capable of love. It's much better now. Still hard, but better. Now I can work with my autism...

PM me and I'll explain. I believe there is a forum rule against discussing fetishes, and the answer to your question gets awfully close to that.

You know, a screen name like Pokelover isn't helping your case much. But bro-hoof anyway. While there's nothing wrong with being a furry, many people have a very wrong idea of what being a furry means. Being a pegasister, I get some of the same from brony-haters. You've got to realize that some peop...
