I was a lot like that when I was a young child. I don't remember the ages, but I remembered that it lasted for a year or two. I would often sleep in the same bed as my parents or one of them would sleep in my bed with me and leave after a few hours. I don't know when, but it eventually happened that...

I don't know how one would class my social life. At my university, I generally eat my meals with my group of good friends, though I don't really talk to other people I'm in class with (unless I already know them or it's a class discussion). I don't go to parties or social events. On the weekends, I ...

I've never really believed that dreams have any sort of meaning. I never pondered it a lot, but I always held the view that they're just the random mental meanderings of the mind while unguided. But I had a dream last night that is making me re-consider this. Does anyone have any input on the matter...

I was about 16. I had some crushes before then, but I think they were pretty immature things. (You know, the normal things one goes through.) She was the first girl I felt such feelings for that I actually had the courage to really decide that I'd ask her out. Unfortunately, my parents wouldn't let ...

I recall lying in the crib, our dog at the time, and that kind of stuff. I was probably around a year old. I'm not really sure, but it was quite earlier than most people remember.

My speech is very precise, with some degrees of variance depending on the context and people. Sometimes, people find my speech a bit too precise, I think. Well, it's precise to me, and I do tend to speak in a very complex fashion. I've "trained" myself to almost translate my thoughts from my own nat...

I have both synesthesia and ideasthesia. And I have ASMR too. It's very difficult for me to verbalize, but I feel like it's due to the combination of all of those things. It makes listening to music or reading a really enjoyable experience.

Also, I wouldn't go in there assuming that everything will work out fantastic. You never know how other people will react to you and I think having high expectations just sets you up for disappointment. I actually went there to get away from everybody. I was really tired of all the social expectati...

Next year, I'll be studying abroad in Germany or Austria. For some reason, I feel like this is a good chance for me, in terms of love and dating. I don't know why - perhaps I'm being overly-optimistic. To me, it seems like the my being a foreigner might make a bit of awkwardness all right. My German...

I hate the fact that we can't talk about topics that people disagree on (politics, philosophy, religion, history, economics, etc.). Sure people disagree, but why can't we just have a nice, calm chat about it? Most people either descend into cable news tirades or have no clue and/or no views about th...

I don't mind small parties, like an ice cream social, where I know the people in attendance. I also am fine with smaller parties. I guess, in some ways, I don't really think of such as parties, so much as gatherings of friends. When I think of parties, and this might just be my age group too, I thi...

Thanks, blenh. I'm sorry to hear about your experiences. That really is very awful. While I notice some parallels, my mother does have some knowledge of boundaries and knows generally not to intervene. Even if I do end up moving to Europe for a few years, she'd be saddened and feel like she's losing...

I've been home on summer break from college for a few months now. And I'm encountering some minor issues with my mum. Any feedback or advice is greatly appreciated. By the way, sorry if this is a bit long. I often get the feeling that things have changed between myself and my mum, which I don't unde...

Dave, I was in the Scouts for several years (sorry, I can't remember how many). My experience was relatively positive - I learned a little about camping/the outdoors. (Though I'm glad that I left before I realized some of my political and philosophical views. Libertarian anarchism doesn't exactly se...

I am 18 and from the UK. I am about to go to university in September. I know this is cliche and I know I am young. But I just have the general feeling that I'm going to be alone forever. I am the sort of person people don't love. No one has ever told me that they have. I have had 4 girlfriends, non...

Yes! I love learning interesting facts and information. I also like telling people these things. My family hated it when I was younger, but they seem to appreciate it now (in moderation, though). For me, it represents something bigger than just something interesting. It represents my lifelong journe...
