Why do so many people feel so much empathy? I like to discuss war, revolutions and slavery from a pure platonic point of view, where no other feelings other than anger are present. I see the death of individuals as a tradgedy, but the deaths of thousands as just "statistics". When the death toll of ...

You can have Aspergers Syndrom and then develop Schizophrenia later in life. You can also have Aspergers Syndrom with symptoms that make you mentally unstable, which in turn can give you delusions and psychosis similar to Schizophrenia, but without the schizophrenia gene. In the latter case, psychia...

I just keep thinking about the homeless shelter that's waiting for me if I don't. Or the toothless hobo gang at the burn barrel under the bridge and how much I'd enjoy being stuck permanently with their company. Aren't there social nursing homes for people with special needs, operated by the govern...

How do you manage to live independently with a wife, kids and full-time job? I can't understand how it is possible! I can't even pull myself together to boil an egg! How do you manage to be so mature and independent? I depend on everyone around me. I can't be social, I can't talk to other people IRL.

Let us now consider the argument for punishment that says: "Punishment works as a deterence, stricter punishment means lesser crime". I don't want this discussion to go into details wether this assumption of deterence is right or wrong, but just assuming it is right. We have more severe punishment f...

Since my early childhood I've had extreme views on things. I hate this extremism but whenever I get angry at something it comes back 10 fold. At my best I have been told I am a very caring person who cares and thinks about my family members, and I am against the death penalty, against war and so on....

Not only does China execute more than 12.000 innocents each year, violate human rights over and over again, censor western media websites and kill innocent Tibetans, they also use child soldiers!

I wouldn't ask for potatoes. I'd ask for the meat. Exactly. There is nothing wrong in crying for freedom and then leaving out the debate about responsibility, as this will come automatically, however conservatives like to make you responsible for many things, without giving you freedom. That is why...

When you ask for meat, the servant may give you meat and you will surely be served potatoes. But if you ask for potatoes, you cannot be sure he will serve you meat.

Maybe we don't need the military for actual warfare, there are many conservative countries where the military is not used for military purp...

Conscription and Jury Duty is slavery! So is taxation. No it's not. Taxation is not forced labor. If you don't earn any money, you don't have to pay taxes. Furthermore there is something called "personal allowance", that means money you may earn before you are taxed. As long as there is personal al...

I have no problem with either jury duty or conscription. a limited "national service" thing may even be a good thing IMO.

Why shouldn't the citizens have the right to choose their own occupation, instead of the government forcing them to perform specific labor?

Its unsettling that the government equates disablement with retirement - it precludes any sort of rehabilitation or chance of recovery for the individual. I've got Disability Benefits in Denmark. In Denmark it is called "early retirement pension" , that literally means you have retired. I recieved this when I was 19 years old, not because of my AS, but because of the problems AS causes. Currently there is a very low unemployment rate, and the employer...
