You know you're an Aspie if you want to scream at anyone who posts in this thread thinking that 'your' is the proper contraction for 'you are'... :P I used to go ballistic when I saw this, but now I get more upset when people use "it's" instead of "its". My main issue is with people who don't know ...

I also would change the sensory overload thing. The slightest sounds make me super aggressive, when NT people can't even hear them!

I'm actually pretty bad about that...I'll repeat a part of a song over and over. Then I'll repeat the whole song. Then I'll repeat the part of the song I like four or five times, and so on and so forth... |

Thank you. I think the part that helped the most was what you said about things they can get away with saying that we can't. It's something I've sort of sensed but didn't really realise until I read it in your words. Also, you're right about the AND. That's happened to me time and again and I always...

Well, if you can give me any advice on not caring, that would be greatly appreciated. I know that people react to what's inside them and not to what I stand for, they have their own issues to deal with, but still I can't manage to not give a damn. Which makes me try harder, which pisses more people ...

I feel relieved that someone actually understands !
Now if I could only figure out how to stop being so awkward. I'm lucky if I get "angry and depressed". Most people end up thinking I'm a b***h. If I was a b***h, I wouldn't care how they react, would I? |

I have this sort of problem a lot. I'll say things, and then people will totally misinterpret them, and when I see their reactions, I know I was wrong to say/do that. When I look back the situation from their angle, I can see where they're coming from, but by then it's too late? And it hurts me beca...

KenM, please post something so that we know you are ok. I haven't seen a post of you for 4 pages or so out of 6. Please don't do this. Don't think no one cares. WE CARE and we're not "socially supposed to". We just do. Please

I am so glad I'm reading this. I do have some friends, who are very understanding. They don't know why I'm like this. We've been friends, the group of us, for ten years, and I only found out I have AS last month. I haven't spoken to them in about three months. I miss them so much it hurts, but I jus...

I know your post is a month old, but I see no one's replied. What's going on? Is your question "how do I bridge the emotional gap"? First of all, how do you know he "hates" you? Why would he?

I actually have a small notebook (it's the size of a wallet) that I carry with me all the time. In it, there's pictures I took or cut out of magazines, quotes I like, little poems, etc. There's something in there for any situation.

I haven't been using earplugs in public because it seems so strange to others. I wish I could get over that. I have my ipod with me at all times, though. I turn up the volume until the irritating noises are gone, or at least blended in. I don't have as bad a problem with appliances as some of you, e...
