Thanks for your posts - it helps a little not to feel so alone with this.

How do you reconcile it with yourself? I am filled with doubt and self-loathing because it, given my diagnosis, appears that it's me who, pragmatically speaking, is in the wrong? Where is the Grail?

Thank you for taking the time to reply. I feel really bad but don't know where to go for help. Would be great to hear from others who feel the same way,

Please don't read and ignore this post - I am feeling very bad and need support or I doubt I will be able to cope much longer.

I wonder if anyone else feels like this. I certainly hope so or I will continue to feel utterly alone. I have ASD (diagnosed as Asperger's) and I am almost 47 years old (3 weeks until my birthday - diagnosed at 43). I have always known that there was something "wrong" with me. I couldn't r...

I am 100% British NHS (not easy to access) diagnosed Aspergers yet even the people who know me best struggle to accept my diagnosis because I act so normal. People expect people with autism to look weird or act weird but that's just as stupid as saying Chinese people are good at maths. I act all the...

This one is simple - you are a male teenager - that's when all the emotions kick in and you don't know whether you are a kid or a man. Your dad is just suggesting that when all this settles down (it will, in time) you are better off trying to land on the tough/capable side than the sensitive/needy s...

Ask someone - either your line manager or someone in HR - to tell you the company policy on medical appointments. If they have none ask for advice on how to proceed. You may want to suggest making an appointment in, say, 2 weeks time so your managers have plenty of time to adjust to your short absen...

Being "too picky" can often be an expression of your disinclination to involve yourself with something that isn't rock solid guaranteed because you are aware that you often find fault in the "ideals" that other people have expressed to you. In other words, it is so important to you that you don't wa...

Sounds harsh fella. I know how you feel. Your dad is still your dad and won't throw you out - he just doesn't understand and is trying to play hard-ball to see if you respond. Dads do that. It's not going to change until he accepts who you are. That will only happen if you are consistent. Most NTs t...

One of the reasons we may never find an autistic hero in the movies or tv is because we aren't consumer friendly. To display symptoms of Aspergers is often to appear uncaring, devoid of empathy, stupid, obssessed (I'm sure there's one too many "s"s in obssessed but - hey - enjoy the irony!) The thin...

@OP - Having read how this post has developed I am very impressed by a number of things (not least your natural use of English since I assume it is not your first language). The thing that most impresses me is your clarity of thought. In fact, more than that, you seem to have a very similar outlook ...

Anyone who found that enquiry to be in any way accusatory is importing things tha...
