I think you could say that I have this issue, as well. I always "feel" as if I am using the correct tone, but I often get told that my voice sounds flat or angry. I don't get it because, to me, it sounds like my voice is totally different (I hear my voice as being full of expression, but others hear...

Has a speech-language pathologist taken a language sample? That's an informal method of assessment that can give insight to all sorts of language and speech issues. A good SLP should be doing more than just assessing articulation at the word level - at the very least he or she should be engaging you...

I'm a speech-language pathology student, and yes, apparently we (SLPs) are able to make the AUTISM diagnosis. I assume this would include Asperger's. However, the SLPs who are my prefessors often admit that they would not be comfortable actually making the diagnosis and would prefer to refer the per...

I still toe walk, just like you. It only happens when I am barefoot, but I do tend to keep my weight on the balls of my feet even while wearing shoes. It's just more comfortable for me. You mention that you don't think it's a sensory thing - I think it could still be sensory because we prefer it ove...

If it's what you really want to do, then go for it! I'm currently a junior in a speech-language pathology program. I'm not diagnosed with AS, but friends and professors are starting to suspect that something's up. My prosody (vocal intonation) is odd and my pragmatics (social skills) are odd as well...

I did the MERT. I thought it would never end! My score was a 40% accuracy, and I think (sorry, I closed the page!) a 60% compared to everyone else.

YES. The sounds of people chewing drives me up the wall. Especially if they are loud, "wet" chewers. I instantly become on edge and feel angry when I hear these noises, particularly from my mother (it's so disgusting!). I don't know how to deal with it except to leave the room or put on headphones. ...

Okay, I'm halfway through my second year of college and, like you, was terrified of the whole idea in high school. Let me tell you about my experience. Dorms. Yeah, they're probably the toughest part. At my college we have two options - two-person dorm rooms and four-person (four bedroom) apartments...
