Forum: General Autism Discussion   Topic: "That's so Autistic!"

Never in real life, but on the internet to a degree. It's usually not 'autistic' though, it's 'autist', and at least some of the people who say it seem to have the idea that this 'internet autism' is much closer to simple immaturity and anti-social behaviour than it is actual autism. Others seem to ...

Chat with people on forums like this and start PMing them if you feel you want to keep talking. Maybe use Skype after awhile, as Sliceracer suggested. I'd be okay with you messaging me, if you like.

Asperger's itself doesn't get worse with age, but comorbid conditions can emerge. Depression due to a lack of friends or an inability to focus on an interest, avoidant or schizoid personality disorders from confusion with people and emerging suspicion of people, social anxiety for the same kind of r...

For the last 6 of the 7 years I was in primary school I was physically attacked every day at break and lunch times, sometimes even in class. Punching, kicking, throwing off of walls, strangulation even. It was despicable and the school blatantly ignored it, even when I reported it probably over 50 t...

It's important to remember that all a diagnosis does is give you a name for behaviours that you've always had anyway. You have been, and are going to be, the same person, as there is no actual treatment for autism.

I'd recommend Baldur's Gate, Planescape: Torment, Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura, Geneforge, Avernum, Avadon: The Black Fortress, The Elder Scrolls, especially Daggerfall, Morrowind and Skyrim. Daggerfall is free on Bethesda's website but all those other games you need to pay for.

Not that I know of. You can try the older Sims games, I'd recommend Sims 2. You could try modding Sims 3 or Sims 2 as well, but the simple fact is that Sims is more or less your only option in its niche.

They don't succeed in making me feel that way, but it's clear that some people try to. Being louder and more obnoxious doesn't make you more correct than someone who has done actual research, but you don't need to go far to see people deciding that their uninformed opinions are superior simply becau...

To friends, I describe my genuine feelings as much as I can, or at least try to; to others, I just say "fine", "okay" or "good", partially because anything more is pointless because it's little more than an extended greeting, and partially because I wouldn't trust them with that knowledge. Is random...

I have no idea where you're getting these ideas of objectivity and subjectivity from, especially since they seem to be your own subjective opinion. It isn't objective to try to be a cog in a giant machine. Hell, the most 'objective' actions you could possibly do are those you filed under subjective ...

Not at all. I identify as agender and while I've had some nervousness about admitting to liking especially 'girly' stuff, like say My Little Pony, that faded very quickly. Pressure to conform to gender roles is just something I don't even notice for the most part, and it's definitely not something I...

Forum: General Autism Discussion   Topic: Definition of 'Friends'

I think the actual reason for that question may be based less on how many 'friends' you could be said to have, and more on your definition of friends. I'd say I only have about 8 at most because I have a pretty narrow idea of what I'd call a friend, whereas some people call anyone they talk to casua...

I don't really know much about this centre, never even heard of it until now, but it's as simple as a Google search to find a list of controversies. No disrespect intended, but it would have been easy to learn that they did this before sending children there. I really hope they get closed down or si...

I like my birthday. I don't like birthday parties, so I haven't had any since I was 5. I usually just go to Aviemore or a wildlife park/zoo or something, sometimes with a friend, sometimes not. Either way, it's always something relatively solitary and quiet. In my opinion, it's unreasonable of your ...

I can't say I'm interested in getting any of the new consoles anyway, but if I had to choose it wouldn't be the new Xbox. Activation codes I'm used to from playing on PC, but all this other stuff sounds as bad as what EA did with SimCity. We really don't know much about the new Xbox, though, and all...
