I occasionally get so hyperfocused on a particular task, interest or objective, that any interruption to my thought process no matter how well intentioned or necessary feels like an unwanted intrusion.

How is your eye contact? Perhaps they are reacting to your lack of eye contact. I suspect it would be hard to maintain eye contact with someone who is not maintaining it themselves...so you may end up then not trying to make eye contact with the person as much. Ah, like a sort of mutual awkwardness?

Perhaps it's a byproduct of society increasingly connecting through indirect means, such as the internet; or related to the fact that our social contact is more often mediated through screens in general. The constant intrusion and stimulation from all our "devices" can overload us cognitiv...

I'm not sure banter is something you "win" so much as it is a social tool to either feel people out, or bond; depending on the context. Sometimes people say things to elicit a reaction, to see if a person will behave a certain way, sometimes as a form of amusement; at other times all of th...

It's tempting to look at others one's age, (while young) and think that the grass might be greener on the other side, so to speak. But not necessarily... a job might have it's hidden downsides; relationships can prove stressful and potentially wrought with conflict under the surface; a person might ...

Curious... I suppose it depends on how you would define "special interest". The way you describe it seems to me like a core part of your identity; to have someone treat it like an unimportant thing to you, such seems to me like it would feel like they're rejecting you as a person. (Not tha...

I happen to find this, as far as Hi-Fi noise filtering ear plugs are concerned; for anyone interested. http://www.discovervibes.com/for-autism ... -disorders

I also tend to find it difficult to listen to one particular person speaking, if it is accompanied by a sea of other voices; I find it is almost reflexive to just zone out entirely to deal with the noise. I haven't thought about special ear plugs to filter out excess noise, seems like a good idea to...
