A very useful skill is being able to take someone else's half baked idea and actually make it work. As well as having the knowledge to instantly tell which half baked ideas are worth working on. Yes - too true. This is mostly what I do. As a freelance writer and artist I am often taking the idea fr...

Romansky123 - I'll tell you what my grandfather told me - "You have the ability to learn more skills than other people. Learn as many skills as you can - they're worth more than money." So, I have and I will continue to because he was right, and possibly a polymath himself.

It's not important for me to get in touch with other polymaths. I'm interested in developing a business in which polymaths can explore and create whatever they want and then use those developments, creations, etc. to change education on local and global scales. A similar business model exists but th...

Yes, BDTD, you're possibly a polymath. Aspie's don't generally excel at everything they try and are often obsessed with one particular thing. I'm both, you may be, too. Less than 1% of the population are polymaths. I'm trying to figure out a way to create a connection or social media platform for po...

Anyone want to talk about the stigma of being called "autistic", HFA, Asperger's, etc.? I'm quite content being HFA (diagnosed Asperger's but now called High Functioning Autistic) and talk openly about it with people. Their views, opinions, biases are their own and don't bother me. I want ...

Mastery of subjects is the key. Many polymaths master a subject, then another, then another over the course of decades.

Thanks for helping! I should have clarified more, I suppose. A polymath is not a "jack-of-all-trades, master of none". A polymath can master multiple areas of work and study. For example, many people can change the oil in their car, do their job well and maybe even learn to play an instrum...

Is anybody here a polymath? If so, what have you learned to do so far, what are your skills?

I'm too busy to be on here much but I do like to connect with people from time to time. Good to know this is here. I'm learning UX/UI design. Anybody do that?

I also have kids and I understand the stress. I use meditation as medication - it really helps with my constant anxiety issues. I never did an internship - I just learn through trial and error and videos. Adobe has a lot of explanatory videos available. Also, I'm 15 yrs older than you and am a stay ...

I mostly use Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and Indesign. I use Illustrator the most often. I do a lot of logos and "branding" or "re-branding" of companies in my area. I also do wedding invitations, flyers, and custom art (like I'm about to do a custom drawing that someone would l...

I can say and suggest things - whether they help or not seems to be a matter of perception. I will answer questions, if you have any, the best that I can.

Yes - I make money at it. It's great because I can interact with clients mostly over email and, when I do have to meet up with them, I only have to deal with one person at a time (usually).

For those who love scientific information, here's a link to an interview with a neuroscientist from Harvard about the effects of mediation on the brain and a link to Scientific American guest blog. There's a lot more research out there if you care to look it up. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/i...
