I also can relate to a lot of this. It wasn't until about 5 years ago (so about 26 years old at the time) that I started to 'accept' myself. It's not a on/off switch, and if it were then it'd be switching on and off all the time. I imagine it'll be a choice i make for the rest of my life to forgive ...
