I wonder if saving bugs is something specific to women on the spectrum? When I was a kid I used to get teased for getting angry at other kids who killed spiders and insects. Although, a guy who used to tease me ran into me recently and said he had decided I was "right," because he felt guilty when k...

Go for it! The job I'm starting Monday is an hour-long commute one way, so we'll be in it together. :) My solution is going to be having tons and tons of new music to listen to all the time. And I also agree you can always keep looking for something close to home while you're working; that's what I'...

The shot of booze could work well, unless the interviewers smell it on your breath. It isn't something I would personally risk. I would settle for some kind of relaxation or meditation technique beforehand. Good luck! Remember it's okay if you feel nervous during an interview; I think that's normal....

If any of you remember my interview last week, yesterday I was called and offered the position! I am extremely relieved and thrilled that I for sure have a job in my chosen field. I have another interview for a job today that is probably better than the one I just got; if I end up being offered this...

Yesterday was my interview and I think it went well! At the end they told me about company benefits and had me fill out some paperwork for a background check, so I guess those are two good signs. I felt really prepared for the questions they asked me and was able to adopt the role and specific behav...

Thank you to everyone who replied with advice- these are some very thoughtful answers and I saw a lot of things I hadn't considered! It never would have occurred to me to wait to sit down until told, for example. Pausing before answering (timing) is also something I didn't really think about.

I've been searching for a job passively since February and actively since October 3rd, after I got my license to practice as a psychologist in my state. After watching each one of my classmates get interviews and jobs with no luck for me, I FINALLY LANDED AN INTERVIEW TODAY!! ! It's for a case manag...

Aw, UK is a good place to be, then. America-based over here!

I am not doing any additional activities outside of my 6-hour-a-week job. I did get called for an interview today though! :D

I think working part-time would be better, if it weren't for the fact that part-time workers get no benefits. Not having health insurance is a serious problem if you wind up in the emergency room for some reason or find out you have a serious life-threatening disease. Part-time work would be ideal f...

My boyfriend of one year, both my parents, all 3 of my living grandparents, my two pet rats, and 4 or 5 friends (cannot count the exact number in my head; it just seems like 4 or 5 of them love me).

I just graduated with my M.A. in Clinical Psychology and I'm doing a contracted position as an intake clinician until the summer ends (which is soon). I interview people who are going to be receiving mental health services and give them referrals, and then decide on a diagnosis and write a diagnosti...

One of my best friends, who probably isn't on the autism spectrum, also wishes for a long-term romantic relationship that is asexual. There are many asexual people who still want the companionship of a committed relationship. There's nothing unrealistic or wrong about that; I just imagine it's harde...

Thanks for the replies. I'm getting my Master's in psychology, actually, although I still don't know much about attachment disorders. When I was a kid I was kinda ridiculous with my mom; when she went back to work when I was nine I cried in the window and repeated "she's dead" over and over until sh...
