I just told my GP that I suspected I had aspergers and asked for a referral to be assessed. She sent me to a psychiatrist or psychologist (cant remember which) who specialised in it. That was fully covered under medicare (I was allowed two free visits but only needed one). I went along and he diagno...

Gold coast here. My life is going well. I only discuss it when it's necessary or with people I trust. Most of the time I can blend in well enough to get by.

do some online screening tests, a good one is here http://www.aspietests.org/raads/questions.php plus there are several others around if you google "aspergers online test for adults" or something like that.
also try to get a referral to a specialist from your GP if you want the diagnosis. |

I worked at McDonalds when I was 19 for about 3 months. It was awful. I didn't understand the workplace politics and annoyed all the managers. I worked in the kitchen and seemed to always be too slow when making orders. They tried to get me to work front counter and do a traineeship but I refused be...

I have almost no social contact with anyone and don't feel lonely. The less people I have to fake a connection with, the better. I'm a happy hermit.

Maybe you should have this conversation with him and see where it leads. Could be beneficial for both of you.

Maybe try looking somewhere else or pursuing something different. It sounds like these kinds of relationships are bad for you.

I didn't know about autism until a few months ago, age 27. Before this I only had a vague sense that I was different. I was generally able to convince myself that I was *fairly* normal, maybe just a bit introverted and damaged from bad experiences in the past. The interesting thing I guess is that s...

Yes I feel like this is just part of autism, at least for myself anyway. Since learning about it I have given up hope of being in a relationship. I could do short term until they realise I don't feel anything. I used to fake it which can work for a while too. You need to be a real person with feelin...

I get this really weird feeling in my brain. Like when I was once asked about empathy and how I would react to a certain situation, and my brain can't compute what it's meant to, even if someone explained to me the correct empathic response to a situation my brain blocks off and cannot register the...

I don't think you are going to learn anything from porn. Just try to relax and lower your expectations. You are inexperienced and that is going to show no matter what you do; there is no way around it. She knows this and is comfortable with it, so you should be too.

Here is my guess based on my own experience. You feel disconnected from people and are painfully aware of the difficulty (impossibility?) of bridging that gap. Confessing your most personal secrets is a way of tricking yourself into feeling like you are making real connections. It's like a last ditc...

Haha had to post in this topic. My old flatmate and I used to be really good friends and get along really well. Then he got a gf and she kinda moved in. She hated me I think because I got along so well with the flatmate and she was jealous. Anyway she told him that I was "the most disgusting person ...

I think it's pretty common to feel that way about late teens. Especially if they were good times. What is the significance of those years for you?
