90% of computer problems are software. Half of those are "It's slow", or hard drive is full. The answer to this is usually a quick cleanup, or if it's pretty bad, I wipe and install Linux, usually Mint. Most of the hardware problems most people run into are dead motherboards(probably the capacitors)...

I currently have: Parabola (with Openbox) Parabola is Arch with all non-free packages removed or purified to FOSS only. Good for security also. Arch (with KDE) -- my fallback / used for Wine, since it's already set up Gentoo with Enlightenment 17 -- I prefer Arch but Gentoo had more up-to-date E17. ...

Linux is an excellent NOS, but for private consumers, it's highly overrated. You won't get the infamous blue screen of death, but you'll still get to see the image freeze a fair share of times or experience kernel panic every now and then.
