Thanks! Yes, she will be producing a report which breaks down each deficit and has given us some recommendations already in terms of accessing services, OT, etc. I think for some 'closure' to this part of the journey I felt like I needed a definitive diagnosis, but as Momsparky says, if each area ca...

Well, this week has been busy, we have seen a specialist in ASD's and today got the final verdict for our 9yr old dd!! I understand it but at the same time…not! She has basically said that she doesn't quite fit into either 'box' but has some Asperger traits and some ADD traits-which I can see and un...

Thanks for the replies. Obviously I was not after an online 'diagnosis' and as I said we are seeing a specialist next week for assessment, we do have lots more issues with her other than the couple I mentioned. As a parent who is struggling with her childs behavior and awaiting the assessment proces...

Hi, just wanting some input really!! !! Basically my daughter is 9yr and for most of her life she has been quite 'difficult' in various aspects but things have really come to a head and quite unbearable in the past 6-12mths. After doing some internet research I thought she 'fitted' into the AS categ...

I kind of know where you are coming from….as a parent to a 9yr old girl, who is attending for assessment also on the 6th August, I suspect she has aspergers/asd. I feel like a complete nervous wreck (and am usually very level headed), I have done tons of 'research' on the net and often wonder if I a...

My 9yr old daughter who we suspect as having Aspergers is very loud…..and always has been!! :? She talks loudly, sings, shouts, turns the volume up on the radio and TV so that others find it unbearable. We had her ears tested twice when she was 5yrs as her teacher thought she must be struggling to h...

Hmmm, yes she enjoys reading and this started off that she would love going to the library and getting a huge pile of books……now she still likes getting the books but doesn't seem to read them as she is only appearing interested in reading and re-reading Diary of a Wimpy kid books and another series...

Hi, just wondering if any of parents of girls with AS can give their opinions on this……a lot of the literature I have read about AS suggests that folk have a tendency to be a 'train spotter' about certain things, or have specific rituals etc, I have also read that girls tend not to be as rigid in th...

This post really struck a cord with me as I've recently been in the very same situation. My daughter who is 9yrs has always been the naughty, disrespectful & rude child out of the 3 of them and we have constant battles about anything and everything with her. Bedtime is a nightmare (& still i...

Hi. My middle child is 9yrs and we have always thought there was something 'different' about her and its only recently after constantly feeling a real 'groundhog day' over specific behaviors that we're at last going down the path of assessment. I suspect Aspergers and she is very defiant, moody, hea...

Hmmm, we have the same problem with our 9yr old daughter, she has no dx (as of yet) but thanks to the internet I feel she has several 'traits' of AS and are waiting to see a specialist in august. However, one of the things she does is take/steal food from the pantry and hide the evidence around her ...
