I am feeling overwhelmed. I am having the crushing feeling that I wasted all 34 years of my life to date. I should have well over $30,000 in the bank, not $30,000 in debt. I should have done something great by this point in my life. I should have had at least one decent intimate relationship. Inste...

Of course any sort of scan also risks causing or increasing your risks of developing cancer too.
I think in some cases it is better not to know.

Forum: General Autism Discussion   Topic: So what exactly is autism, anyway?

Clearly if professionals and people with ASD cannot completely agree on what is and isn't ASD, then it is very complex. It will take further decades of research and refinement of data to fully understand and explain what is and isn't autism, and what is part of the spectrum, and what for lack of a b...

Coming into this thread very late, but it appears I have it. I agree labels can be misleading, and it is more about a dysfunctional relationship, rather than a mental disorder, condition, or syndrome, but for lack of a better label there you go. I was hospitalised - sectioned - when I was 17, after ...

All of the above are very good, and I agree with them all. Buddhists would say that everyone's reality is real, that we live in different worlds, even though we may inhabit the same planet. the reality that NT's live in does not completely correlate with the ASD reality, and even amongst ASD folk, r...

Hey Guys, I've just joined so I don't know much about the community of Wrong Planet yet, and I haven't set anything up, but I'm going to the doctors tomorrow for a problem that might be related to the autism spectrum, so I guess I just wanted to see if anyone who has actually been dignosed feels th...

Depending on the organisation, or even on the branch within, not too much will be expected of you straight away. Typically you may have to sit with someone to learn their role, and have some one on one training. If this is the case, either make sure you take notes, or ask for a copy of any notes the...

Thanks, I realised that about five minutes later.
Clearly my Autistic brain was a bit slow to pick that up, and instead was focussed on all the "would you let a virgin..."posts that preceded it.
Most likely you were already onto it, but I was chasing up from before.

Sorry I'm not from Birmingham, or a woman, but I can tell you that if you're old enough to post on here, chances are getting diagnosed will not be so cut and dried. Most diagnosis and treatment for ASD focusses on the very young. Just google autism, or aspergers self test, and look at Simon Baron Co...

Forget about the kids name and calling that, she knows her name, and is probably sick of you calling her to check she can hear you. Try ringing a bell, clapping your hands or playing music. Chances are she just wants to be stimulated and interact with you, and calling out her name is one sided and n...

For goodness sake you have only two options. Make sure your kids know to stay away from the troublesome neighbours, including kids, parents and any pets, or go to the police. Going to the police will also mean option 1 anyway, as the cops will tell you to stay away from them. Your only other option ...

I have to be in the right frame of mind, and in the right company, and even then, I now realise that it takes me some time to decompress after such exposure. I generally avoid crowds, but I see it as a practical issue. I don't like being unable to get to where I need to be, such as toilets, food, dr...

Please see below; there have been several posts obsessing about virgins, whether you would let them do various things etc.
This seems to have gone on too long and gone too far.

very true. How can you be unfaithful if you can't even get a girlfriend, and if it was so much trouble to get one, you would be much less likely to risk losing it. The only time I "cheated" on a girl, was with a very unstable girl I was with 20 or more years ago. After an argument she said that we w...

parents being idiots cause way too many problems.
Until they can find a way to stop idiots from reproducing, without getting civil libertarians up in arms this problem will not be resolved.
