We also have them see a gasterologist in case there is a physical problem, but thats only if they are severally constipated or they complain of pain, or diaherra. I know this isn't directly related to potty training because i haven't had any problems with my AS son in that area but this line remind...

Thank you so much everyone! I don't even mind if he doesn't grow out of it as it doesn't impact our lives in a negative way ... I just wanted to make sure it wasn't likely to manifest into something less manageable. He's normal! Well .. in an Aspie kinda way.

Same here with 12yo AS son.
Doesn't smile. Loud, forced laugh. When he tries to smile (i.e. for class photo the other day) it looks forced and silly.
Seems to carry the world on his shoulders but tells me he's happy so that's good.

I know this will be a controversial answer so take it as you like. :) My 12yo aspie son hasn't done homework since grade 3 (4 years ago). He takes a book to school and his teacher provides lego and jigsaw puzzles at the back of the class for when he is bored/frustrated. I decided when he was back in...

Many of the things you describe fit my 12yo Aspie son as well. He has a very dry, sarcastic wit and is obsessed with quoting lines from movies, tv shows etc. He actually can't help himself with those ... if he starts the quote he has to finish it even if I already know it and yes, I'm in trouble if ...

My 12yo son, David, has Aspergers. He also has OCD tendencies (like bookmarking every webpage exactly 6 times and taking a certain number of steps when he walks). He told me last night that he feels emotion for inanimate objects. Some examples he gave include: * If he drops a food wrapper he thinks ...

I've got alot to learn about leadership skills and public ralations, and I admit it would be easier if I didn't stutter and shutdown if someone is looking at me. These things I have to work on, I want to make as much influence as I can. I would greatly appreciate if anyone had any ideas they could ...

Qwerty keyboard was dessigned so that you wuld use both your left and right hand equally... not necisarily for jamming keys in type writer. Actually I teach typing and I always believed that the QWERTY was designed to prevent jamming of the old typewriters. It is understood that QWERTY is a slower ...

As a parent of an Aspie, I found it really hard NOT to tell people. I needed to vent, I needed to discuss and churn around the facts and consequences. It never occurred to me that he wouldn't want people to know. Now that we've talked about it, I tend to ask him if I can discuss it with a certain pe...
