Well, it's been 3 months now and I've spent the last week really irritated with him. I don't think he understands that AS is a real disorder his response to me telling him about it was that it kind of described him (which to me sounds like "well I fit some of those symptoms so I don't see what's so ...

Just finished a four year degree in Management Information Systems. I was one of only a handful of girls in that major but also graduated with the highest GPA in my major for May 2010 graduates. I think computers appeal to me for a few reasons, first of all unlike people they can be understood and f...

I just started dating a guy about a month or so ago and I really like him but I also have no prior dating experience (and neither does he even though I'm 22 and he's 25) and I really don't know what to expect and how much of what I'm feeling is normal and how much is related to my AS. So I'm asking ...

Hi Everyone! I haven't been on in ages but I've had an idea for a thread for almost a year now and am just now getting around to posting it. I was thinking, if Aspies could found their own country what would it be like? Then I thought it might be fun to see what my fellow Aspergians would find neces...

Forum: General Autism Discussion   Topic: Depression more common in Aspergers, not Autism itself???

I was always tested for depression ever since the 4th grade because like you said I appeared to be in my own little world but once I saw a counselor I would open up and talk their ear off so they had a hard time saying I was depressed because frankly is wasn't, this was all before my Asperger's diag...

I live in a dorm room and stay there most of the time, but that's a little different. At home I don't spend a ton of time in my room mostly because my room isn't that entertaining, if it were then I could see myself spending a good portion of my day there.

living in a dorm room has shown me just how messy I am, having all of the mess that is usuaaly spread across a whole house placed in one room makes it pretty overwhelming at times. Generally, I just wait until I get so sick of it that I decide to pick it all up and this does happen occasionally. I'v...

I don't like to look at my feelings logically because like you said it seems like you're trying to explain them away. My parents often do this and I think that's where I learned it. I know that there may be some underlying factor that brings those feelings to the surface but that doesn't mean the fe...

Going through it right now, since being on "the pill" (for cists) things are better or at least predictable but I find my AS symptoms get worse toward the end of the pill pack. I get stressed out and/or depressed much easier and tend to avoid or resent social interaction when I normally don't mind i...

I can talk someone's ear off if I get half the chance and I tend to speak fairly well but I have always been able to express myself better in writing. Writing allows me to think about what I want to say and also to express my creative side when I work on my stories. Labpet you are incredibly articul...

I often have times (like now) when I feel depressed and all around icky it usually is due to a combination of meds wearing off, being tired, and sometimes hormones play a roll too. It's relatively normal but it is times like this when I could really use a hug or someone to not tell me it's just the ...

I'm content being alone as long as I know that I don't HAVE to be that way that if I want company I can find it. I was more lonely when I had a roommate freshman year than I have ever been in the last two years of having a double room to myself on a floor full of people. I like being alone as long a...

One of the biggest reasons my Asperger's went undiagnosed (dispite having all the signs) until I was a senior in highschool is because I'm a girl and it is relatively rare for girls to have asperger's compared to boys. Asperger's is not the only disorder that can be overlooked due to odds, just watc...
