I suppose this is similar to how a significant number of people now identify as LGBTQWERTYUIOP++++-/ or whatever letters got added this week. I have long suspected the autism is heavily over diagnosed. But given that its now its now deemed acceptable to 'self diagnose' I do wonder why NHS waiting li...

Just wanted to update this thread to say that its now 4 years since I stopped the SSRIs.

I won't say much as I've actually discussed this in other people's threads on the same topic. I'm long since over the worst of the withdrawal symptoms, but I still feel crap a lot of the time.

Most technology I get is older/second hand. I bought a smart phone a few months ago and got one which is only a couple of years old. Consequently it was quite cheap compared to a new one, and it does everything I wanted it to. In this case I still wanted something 'new-ish' as 5G and a decent batter...

I don't see the point in all this breathing stuff that people always recommend for anxiety.

Thanks for the replies. No, I haven't spoken to a psychiatrist. Too expensive, and I'm not particularly confident in the medical profession any more. i did register with a GP recently. I would like to go and see if there is any help available in my area for people with AS, but from what I've read, l...

I took various SSRI/SNRIs for 10 years and came off them for good in 2021 (see my other topic: https://wrongplanet.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=406046). Its almost 4 years now since I stopped them. I do get days when I can't leave the house. I used to just stay in on those days, but now I tend to forc...

Thought I'd write this down while I'm feeling somewhat sane... I get very angry about this whole Aspergers Syndrome malarkey and the effect it has had on my life. I have no one to talk to about it, so instead I listen to music loudly through headphones, smash things, cut myself, over-eat, and over d...

I wanted to ask but does anybody ever get a feeling of "Impending Doom" or this feeling that you are going to die. I had a weird feeling come over me last night with it and I don't know if it's anxiety or not. It kind of scares me and I've had it off and on now sometimes over the past mon...

30-40 miles in a week of walking seems like a lot. Does that not help at all with your feelings of depression? Exercise can be therapeutic for some people with depression. Are you on any medications for depression? If you have tried everything and you still feel uncomfortably depressed, I can only ...

My bike is faulty and it will be some time before i can manage to repair it. To mitigate this I've walked about 30-40 miles this week (I hate walking), but I've still spent nearly £10 on bus fare and still seem to have spent so long sat in this chair staring at the same four walls for the same amoun...

Yes. Or if it doesn't cause pain, it certainly contributes to it.

I blame stress for making my headaches and joint paint worse.

I'd welcome funding in to research if it was useful research, but the vaccine theory is like trying to flog a dead horse. I'm not satisfied that there has been a particular increase in children with autism either - I'd guess it is more of an increase in diagnoses.

This topic is a few years old now, and I'd say they do less than they used to. It was around the time this topic started that they stopped doing the Asperger United magazine for free. I didn't bother taking the paid for version as I had no income at the time. They have also stopped their helpline. I...

I wouldn't say they are particularly generous. Some people do better out of the system than others. It is very circumstantial. e.g. I know someone who was homeless for quite a while. He got higher rate PIP (both care and mobility) and higher rate ESA. He quite happily used this to pay for clothes, m...

I find him obnoxious. I also don't like how he promotes homeopathy.
