I researched autism for a project at my school (I used to be a teacher) for a few weeks and didn't think it had anything to do with me until I happened upon a list of female Asperger traits. Reading those was like reading a description of myself. That lead to me seeking a diagnosis. Maybe they did ...

If you want to research whether your traits are autistic, the best way is to look up the diagnostic criteria and see whether you fit it. This did not work for me. Just from reading those criteria I would never have even guessed that I could be autistic. I researched autism for a project at my schoo...

Did you find it helpful at all?

My neurotypical mom would often say things to me like: "You don't have any friends." "You need to stop asking salespeople for their opinion. You need some friends whom you can go shopping together with so that you can consult your friends for their opinion." "Do you still h...

Over here it's mandatory in shops, public transport and practically anywhere else you can meet people except private homes. I have tried to get washable ones but couldn't. The first batch my husband ordered for us we never got, the second one didn't fit. They were too small for him and too big for m...

Absolutely.

Also, it is not a good idea for a woman to smile at random strangers. A lot of men interpret it as an invitation that it is not.

Still not my responsibility.

Obviously that depends on how old you are to begin with, the older you are the less you worry about an age gap in my experience. You wrote you were born in 1989, which means you are the same age that I was when I met my 4-years-younger husband. The age difference has never been a problem for us. It ...

It seems like we come across as angry when we really aren't. I have been told I looked angry when I wasn't feeling well and was really tired. I've suffered a burn-out with depression and anxiety recently about half a year ago. Of course this has not just happened but looking back not it has started ...

But why? Why am I responsible for how others feel when they look at me?

It's different if it's someone you know or want to get to know, but strangers? Why?

I think levels could be very useful if they weren't just used to decribe one's autism as a whole. I'm sure a lot of us are higher functioning in some aspect and lower functioning in others. Just giving an average is totally misleading.

About a year ago I had some problems with my liver and needed to go on a diet. My GP recommended what I later found out to be a kind of keto diet: no sugar, no white flour, no fruit (has too much sugar), no alcohol (I hardly drink alcohol anyway), no canned foods, no processed meat, lots of vegetabl...
